I assume you tried a reboot already. I forgot to tell you all Samsung phones have a recommendation to restart once per week to clean out the junk in the RAM. When I fixed this issue on my S8, I kept battery level at 100% and it worked fine with all 8 processors. Uninstall or disable any apps which are not required. Please Don't give up. This problem is not hardware; it is a configuration issue with Samsung apps and software. I think the power save idea is a good place to start. All power saving is disabled. I have removed it now as it just isn't being coherent.

What version of Android are you on? I've heard that Android N has a feature that prevents apps from using constant 100% CPU and heating the phone up by slowing down the CPU to cool it down if that happens. That would explain why your phone is "stone cold" and super slow.

The essential issue was posted earlier " (CPU Time/Elapsed Time) 6.25 / 25.42" meaning the client was allowed to run for 25.42 wall clock hours, but in that period the system only allowed 6.25 hours worth of CPU cycles for the task process, which excludes the client itself as being the issue. If the client would be pausing, stepped or otherwise, the battery temps e.g. there'd be log entries, albeit from just 1 second at :29 it is very hard reading.

Hi everyone,
----------------------------------------I am actually having the same issue either my Moto Z2 phone. The description was spot on, at first my phone was warm to the touch, but the slowed to a crawl and my phone was cold. I tried following the same steps described in this forum, but nothing helped ( ie restarted, uninstall boinc and reinstalled it). I also checked and the phone does not have battery saver turned on and made sure that boinc is not optimized (aka no power management on it enabled). Any other ideas I could try? Thank you ![]() |

My Nexus 7 does this when the charging cable is not set exactly just right. The client thinks it's not on AC even though the tablet stays at 100% power. A little cable wiggle and all the tasks start back up.

Hi mmonnin,
----------------------------------------Thanks for the reply. I have double checked my cable but it didn't change anything. I did however tried to go into settings, cleaned out cache data for BOINC, and then did a force stop of the BOINC app. After that I re-opened it and almost immediately noticed that it started working. Weird because I did try that before and it didn't do anything. Will keep an eye on it to see what else might be causing it. ![]() |

It was working perfect and getting pretty toasty for the first little bit, but now it remains cold to the touch and I saw system usage according to system monitor CPU monitor widget at 20 percent. I have boinc set to run when the screen is on just in case and the battery temp wasn't exceeding 40C. Whereas my moto g 5 plus, running the same version of android (7.0) is chugging along happily. I made sure any power saving for boinc was disabled including androids standard battery optimization on the s8. Any help appreciated.

S8's will throttle down if they are not cooled. I use a laptop cooler with a thermometer: Thermaltake Massive TM. I cool 3 S8's and an S7. The four thermometers read a case temp of 65 to 70 degrees F at 100% CPU and 100% RAM 24/7 ambient temp < 75 F.
