Re: Viktors updates

Thanks for the update and the great story about Dylan, the high school student.

Updates from our monthly call with the research team:

1. They're closer to having sarcoma units ready. There will be a quick round of alpha and beta testing before they're released. There won't be a large number of beta work units, but we'll let everyone know as we usually do when we're ready to start the beta testing.
2. They're working on wrapping up their lung cancer marker analysis.
3. We discussed a couple of news stories that appeared in the Canadian press about a school in Winnipeg that is supporting the project: https://www.winnipegsd.ca/about%20wsd/news/pa...r-to-cancer-research.aspx

I love the story about the high school and student who are crunching on the Grid! Kudos to Dylan, his dad (a SETI. veteran) and the school's Networking and Cybersecurity teacher, Robert Esposito. Crunch on! biggrin

Re: Viktors updates

Highlights from our most recent call:

1. The researchers continue to get sarcoma work units ready.
2. One of the researchers who has been working on lung cancer marker analysis is moving to a new institution, but the analysis will continue.
3. We discussed a few new teams of students in Sweden who are holding a month-long competition to support MCM.

Re: Viktors updates

We had our monthly call with the research team today.

1. They are continuing to work on building sarcoma units, but there are also ovarian cancer units left to run. They're discussing the timing of ending ovarian first, before starting sarcoma.
2. At the same time, they are concentrating on finishing their own lab's analysis of the lung cancer data from WCG and getting it ready for another step of analysis which will lead to writing a paper.
3. Their lab recently hosted a high school student and teacher from Winnipeg, which you can learn more about at https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1675312&jwsource=twi

Re: Viktors updates

Just finished up our monthly call with the researchers.

1. They still have ovarian cancer units left to run, and will be uploading more in the next week or so.
2. They're continuing to work on getting sarcoma datasets ready for us, but right now they feel that the datasets are too big to run well on World Community Grid. They're working on getting them down to a manageable size.

So now we don't know what is the "extension" of the project?! confused
