Re: Viktors updates

Just as an FYI if you want to do medical work units, the phone company Vodafone is running a whole bunch from four different cancer/genomics projects in their own app, "Dreamlab".

It's something to do while we wait. And the recommended project 'Demystify' has very short WUs, so unplugging the device doesn't mess much up. One device I have has done 22,112 calculations over 17 days.

Re: Viktors updates

We had our monthly call today.

1. Sarcoma units - WCG's tech team and the researchers have been discussing a few points (e.g., run time of each work unit) to settle before the researchers send us production units. We'll make an announcement once the switch from ovarian cancer to sarcoma is official.
2. Android work units beta test - The batches we've run so far look good. The average CPU time was ~12-13 hours. We expect to be putting Android work units into regular production soon, and we'll make an announcement when we do.

Status of work units:

Available for Download: 273 batches
In Progress: 1,094 batches (9,432,542 work units)
Completed: 58,312 batches - 1,187 batches in the last 30 days - average of 39.6 batches per day
Estimated backlog: 6.9 days

Re: Viktors updates

Here are the details from our March call with the researchers.

1. We launched sarcoma units (for computers and Android) yesterday. The tech team and the researchers discussed the very early data on runtimes and possible small changes to the work units that will help sarcoma researchers hone in on certain scientific questions.
2. We have a healthy supply of work units and the researchers have a solid process on their end to keep the work flowing. There's currently no estimate for how long sarcoma will run on WCG.
3. Now that nearly all of the ovarian cancer work units are back to the researchers, they're gearing up to start analyzing the data using similar techniques to what they used for lung cancer. They're also still working on analyzing lung cancer data.
4. The principal investigator promoted the project at a recent meeting in Vancouver that addressed big data and how it's changing clinical practice. He was supposed to go to Boston for a similar meeting, but he will now be attending virtually. (This is happening lately for many researchers as conferences are cancelled or go solely virtual due to COVID-19.)

Status of work units:

Available for Download: 720 batches
In Progress: 1,030 batches (8,482,542 work units)
Completed: 59,479 batches - 1,238 batches in the last 30 days - average of 41.3 batches per day
Estimated backlog: 17.4 days
