Re: Viktors updates

Updates from the July call with the research team:

1. Work continues on their sarcoma datasets. Their sarcoma expert is out for a week or so, and we hope to have a more solid starting date by the August call at the latest.
2. They're working on two papers right now that will include data from their work on WCG.
3. They've promised us a project update soon (once the new sarcoma work units are ready).

We'll let everyone know if there will be beta testing for the sarcoma work units.

Re: Viktors updates

Just wrapped up a quick call with part of the research team (a key member is out today).

There's no exact ETA on the sarcoma units yet. Once our developers have them they will be running alpha testing and possibly beta testing. (We'll let everyone know if beta testing is needed.)

Here's a summary of the work unit progress to-date (as of August 7):

Available for Download:  225 batches*
In Progress:  739 batches (1971711 work units)
Completed:  52,608 batches total, 765 in the last 30 days, an average of 25 per day

*NOTE - The researchers are building more batches--this is just the number available for download as of today. The researchers do not have an estimate of how many total batches they will be submitting for the project.

Re: Viktors updates

Loving the work unit progress!

+1 cool
The generalization of this heads-up to all WCG subprojects is a very good thing!

Re: Viktors updates

Would it be possible to generate a public page to see last results done and above all next units to crunch? (like this page for example: https://numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields/batch_status.html)

Re: Viktors updates

I've been crunching away with 3 computers in my home since I heard about the upcoming sarcoma datasets... I am hoping that I can help with that effort, as I have a rare form of sarcoma. Please let's get those sarcoma datasets ready to go ASAP... And thank you for your updates! :-)

Re: Viktors updates

Just a quick update... crunching continues for the ovarian cancer data while the researchers are analyzing the lung cancer data computed earlier.

Thanks for the update

Re: Viktors updates

Had a quick call with the researchers today.

1. They will be building more ovarian cancer work units, as they have more data they want to analyze.
2. They've decided to trim the dataset down for sarcoma units--it's a much larger dataset than they've used before and they feel it's too unwieldy to run on WCG. They want to make the best use of everyone's time and are trying to identify the most promising data.

Here's an update on work unit progress as of this post:

Available for Download: 216 batches*
In Progress: 735 batches (5,632,542 work units)
Completed: 53,314 batches total, 738 in the last 30 days, an average of 25 per day

*NOTE - The researchers are building more batches--this is just the number available for download as of this post. The researchers do not have an estimate of how many total batches they will be submitting for the project.
