I get a WCG email monthly reminding me I need 29 days for the silver HST badge. I managed to get to 15 days by dropping all projects except HST and requesting work every 6 minutes (2 machines). That took about a year and I had a lot of idle time therein. No work at all since then ( another 9 months). I added other projects that were delivering WUs because I signed up to do the crunching, not to sit idle.
What is needed to get regular WUs from HST? Makes me wonder what the badges for HST over 1 year are for. Who can get that much work? |

What is needed to get regular WUs from HST? To get HST WUs, unfortunately you have to hunt for them. What I did for a while was create a queue of other project WUs (let's say two days of MIP) and then switch to only HST and increase the queue to 5 days. This way you are crunching and still only hunting for HST. If you can get a decent queue of HST going (2-3 days worth), you have to maintain it. What I do is hunt for HST WUs at 2 specific times: 10:16:30 am CST and 10:16:30 pm CST. Obviously, you have to have only HST selected. You can setup a task (I have Windows 10, but I'm sure Linux can be setup to do the same) to run at those times. Luck !.CJSL Crunch and don't worry !!! |

On one of my machines (5 cores running) I've only got TB & Aids selected as it's projects. With the fairly quick turnaround needed with Aids/regular reporting in, I tend to get 3-4 TB units/week on it. Not great (shrug), but it's sloooowly dragging those lungs towards the sapphire badge. It does take some micro managing to make it work (turning off internet access/not requesting new projects (so that the Aids aren't the only thing being crunched - with their one day turnaround they're always defaulting to the 'high priority', leaving TB to wait & occasionally timing out)), but it 'can' be done.

i dont remember what it was like...i rushed to blue and then didnt worry about it - but it did so little work on its own when left alone...i sometimes wonder if this project is still alive.

We're now only getting 2K WUs daily (down from 3K) For 7 days now we have been getting WUs daily in the 1K range, although I have not seen an impact to getting WUs, my queue is still OK.
