Re: Work Available

no there isn't anything like this for other projects. ARP is unique in that a WU sent out depends on the result from the previous generation. We know how many generations there will be, so we know when we will finish.

Re: Work Available

I hope I get sent more ARP soon. I got one WU so far. I got a new machine during the break, so I went from 2 ARPs at a time taking 16 hours. to theoretically 5 ARPs at a time, and it looks like 4.5 hours. I'm liking the new mac mini. I'd really like to have 5 running at the same time to see how the machine performs.

Re: Work Available

Well, I did get one ARP, but the download seems to have failed (error), despite all files looked as if they downloaded OK.

<core_client_version>7.16.7</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>wcgrid_arp1_wrf_7.32_windows_x86_64</file_name>
<error_code>-120 (RSA key check failed for file)</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>
</message>
]]>

No error in the BOINC log for the file in question, just the normal: "Finished download of wcgrid_arp1_wrf_7.32_windows_x86_64"

But I seem to remember that the file should be bigger than it is.
It's now 41,8 MB (43 876 864 byte) (On disk 41,8 MB (43 880 448 byte)

How big should it be? Anyone?

https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contributi.../1195877406/log''

Edit: I downloaded the file manually from the URL found in client_state.xml, and put it on the desktop, to compare it with the one in the WCG BOINC folder. It's the same file size, When I restarted BOINC, it immediately downloaded the file again, but not any new ARP task.

Edit 2: Case closed. One more ARP task downloaded, and is now running. I guess it was just one of those things that happen.

Re: Work Available

This thread alerted me that ARP is back. Sure enough already download 2 and in progress. Very short deadline - 36 hours only cool The Intel i7-3770 should take about 16 hours, so no problem there. Checking the log shows they downloaded cleanly with no errors.

Re: Work Available

Looking good here too. I was seeing a big download going out in my system monitor, took a look, and sure enough it was an ARP upload. It worked smoothly and without error, and I have a few others scattered about on my crunchers. Nice to see that it worked smoothly!

No - this is peculiar to ARP.

We are crunching 35,609 patches of Southern Africa over 1 year of weather.

Each generation covers 2 days of weather, so 183 generations (000 - 182).

A new generation is created for that patch when its previous generation has been successfully validated.

You will see references to 'extremes' which refers to those patches that are way behind the rest.

There also 3 'ultras' which have only managed about 21 generations while other have completed 146.

Re: Work Available

Was rather busy at work today, so I didn't notice that there have been new ARP1 WUs send out. Got 9 over 9 different hosts. So far so good, just not so happy that those seem to have only a 36h deadline, which could get tight on some of the old, slower hosts that got some. The first one that got one might just make it within an hour or so, and the deadline is shortly before 1am, so it isn't currently being used...

Re: Work Available

Do only some users get ARP workunits? Even my fastest PC (AMD 5950X with 16 cores/32 threads) does not get any workunit at all. And that machine is running (almost) 24/7.

And yes, ARP is turned on in my preferences, and the same machine got workunits without any problems in the past.

They do look quite sparse, not enough to go round.
