Drs. Collins and Wolinetz pen a JAMA Viewpoint remembering Henrietta Lacks on her 100th birthday and calling for the establishment of stronger biospecimen consent policies / National Institutes of Health NIH
----------------------------------------In a JAMA Viewpoint, Dr. Collins and Associate Director for Science Policy and Chief of Staff Dr. Carrie Wolinetz urge the scientific community to take concrete action to establish a Henrietta Lacks biospecimen consent policy that would require consent from research participants regardless of whether their biospecimens are identifiable. JAMA, August 11, 2020 I had posted this in the Mapping Cancer Markers Forum. Check out the footnotes it should also be in the COVID-19 Forum. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2769506 ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Jim Slade at Aug 12, 2020 3:56:37 AM] |

Scientists think they found the coronavirus' weak spot: https://futurism.com/neoscope/found-coronavir...TSupLBfVEyWMlaiKl06E5gNZM I've read that camels, llamas, and alpacas make much smaller antibodies than most other species. This suggests that infecting one of those animals with the coronavirus, analyzing the antibodies they make, and then duplicating whichever of those antibodies has the most effect on the coronavirus could be a good way to produce antibodies targeted at small areas on the coronavirus. It would probably be best to use at least two of the most active antibodies to reduce the chances that just one mutation in the virus would disable this treatment method. |

CDC has given 'guidance' on testing for people that have 'recovered' from COVID-19, v,v, the rapid loss of antibodies afterwards. They don't need testing again for 3 months for this infection should a person go ill again i.e. it's assumed the person is safe for 3 months.

Landorin: Thanks for sharing; this looks like an amazing breakthrough, especially if the human trials prove effective. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by catsdomain at Aug 15, 2020 3:51:54 PM] |
