Re: Pause in Work for Smash Childhood Cancer

I still have about 170 on one of my machines (I thought I had way less than that!) but not had any new ones filter in for about 36 hours now). Will be interesting to see which projects trickle to me when my stash dries up (hopefully so beta for OpenPandemics biggrin) , as I have that set to the only project (but to allow others if no work).

Chris

Re: Pause in Work for Smash Childhood Cancer

We've sent out all new work units for Smash Childhood Cancer, and going forward will only be sending out resends, which should be completed fairly quickly.

We'll make another announcement in this forum when we have more information from the researchers about their next target.

Thank you to everyone who supports this project!

I wondered what was going on. Smash Childhood Cancer was taken out of the active projects above the data and put at the bottom of my contribution. Just yesterday I finished 10 years worth so I only have a few leftovers to finish. It must be another work pause. I saw it above. Thanks to all.

Re: Pause in Work for Smash Childhood Cancer

thnaks for the update. I guess that the quick speed in this case was due the possibility to run SCC in ARM/Android devices which multiple by millions devices capable to work for.... but it is my guess !

. . Hi,

. . I suspect it was due more to the thousands of aimlessly wandering Seti@Home orphans, like myself, trying to find another project to make our machines useful. That project had huge volunteer resources that are now being applied elsewhere, and the downside is that we are depleting the work in projects such as this very worthwhile endeavour. It is now time to find another one it seems.

Re: Pause in Work for Smash Childhood Cancer

Hi:

It pays to have a number of worthwhile projects to fall back on.

I have started to resume crunching for the Rosetta Project.

Plenty of good projects here at WCG and elsewhere.
Welcome to the forums, by the way.
