Not a biggie, but badges are incorrectly sorted on "Top badges" view

Hi
----------------------------------------The old colors were far from perfect and I was looking forward to a change. However I agree with others that the new badge colors are not appealing. The drawings look nice, especially in the larger view on the contribution page. I know it's not a priority but please bring back multicolors that POP. ![]() |

I think the new page is less informative.
----------------------------------------Before I got a quick overview on how my machines were doing and if there was a problem. I don't really feel I get this with the new look. Also agree on the badges....not easy to see. New look is fine but again less informative.

For those who don't like the bright white pages, there is a High Contrast Extension for Chrome and Edge browsers

I can understand new owners wishing to set their own mark, however treating those who provide the computing time & all that entails,[REDACTED FOR PERSONAL INSULT]...
----------------------------------------...as for the new site providing un-necessary information like My Activity & Longest streak. [REDACTED FOR PERSONAL INSULT]. I have been crunching 24/7 since Seti went inactive back in April last year & all that is shown for that is 2 DAYS? The little light/dark blue squares denoting activity(in my case) showing more light blue than dark? Really? The people crunching under the Boinc banner are responsible people & it would be nice to be treated as such. [Edit 1 times, last edit by caitilarkin at Sep 21, 2021 3:37:28 PM] |

I can understand new owners wishing to set their own mark, however treating those who provide the computing time & all that entails, [REDACTED FOR PERSONAL INSULT]... ...as for the new site providing un-necessary information like My Activity & Longest streak. The new website was not designed or deployed by the Krembil Research Institute. It was designed, created, and deployed under IBM. The new data features that were added were some common requests from volunteers over the years. The IBM and WCG teams put a great deal of time and effort into those, and had high hopes that volunteers would like them. We are monitoring feedback via support, email, website stats, and social media (as well as the forum) to get a full picture over time on how these are received. And knreed has addressed why the streaks start as of the deployment of the new website: "The streak is based on the time you return a result successfully (which is somewhat under your control) and not based the time that your result was validated (which is not very much under your control). We do not store this level of information in the database so we were not able to reconstruct streaks backwards in time. As a result, the streaks start counting from today." To your point about certain groups of crunchers being responsible people: there are many individuals who can maturely and effectively convey their disappointment, and a few others who have shown behavior in the forum that is quite the opposite. Any posts that contain multiple violations of our Communication Guidelines--which are based on a minimum level of common courtesy--fall into the latter category. |

I'm not happy with the new site either, but hopefully it will get better.
----------------------------------------For all it's faults the IBM site was to the point. I not happy the page element "My Contribution". You get -Yesterday, past 30 days and all time. At least add a "today" link tooo!@ Don't like the "My activity" They use "runtime" although I have been rocking steady for a while now, most has been GPU so it shows up as light blue. Is Runtime the real metric? Get more specific and don't make it only Runtime, yea hours/days is good but your output is based on results first, so add a dropdown for Results and Points and make it a selection for your profile, so you set up your profile to what you want to see first. WHAT is Less to More? Get more specific and a less to more metric is soooo wak, were not 12! Current streak??? very bogus, I haven't stoped running GPU and CPU on OPN for months, even when the GPU wu's failed I kept my cpu crunchers going, yet but I only have a 2 day streak, Gee guess your main metric is the website takeover? What about some very long streaks many members have done? So that is all for now? I am trying to be objective and specific so I'm not yet thinking on the design but it does seem clumsy... But it's a start... I have to quote @Dark Angel remark... [REDACTED] Admin note: Posters who violate the Communication Guidelines are subjected to moderation. It's still the IBM website - IBM are the ones who designed it and all you need to do is look at IBM.org to see the similarities.
----------------------------------------It's been explained why the streak only began yesterday. It's a new feature, it wasn't something that existed before and the post right above yours has a link explaining this. Some validated, or pending tasks gets a 0/0 Cpu time/ Elapsed time in the Results list. When they are first reported the right time is shown for both items, but minutes or seconds after they're reported they change to 0/0 Cpu time/ Elapsed time. They do get expected credits though, when validated. I've never seen that before on the old website.
----------------------------------------Two examples only, I have several more: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/816948577 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/817105760 The "Code" stuff does not seem to work OK on the forum though, so I can't paste the results here, without getting crazy formatting, Edit: Two more, this time on my Windows 8.1 computer: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/816293166 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/816290884 [Edit 2 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Sep 22, 2021 12:29:07 AM] |
