Re: Issues with new website

Ha ha looks like IBM's "we were only trying to help" website has gotten the new guys off to a rough start. I belive the streak idea was well intentioned but poorly executed. at least say 3 days since (date) or how about % of days since start date with a nice colorful 100% for bruised egos? I must say i like the activity over time graph. it's visually appealing. Overall i think that your users like visual clutter and lots of colors and less blank white space. Perhaps our sensory preferences are not typical? please excuse typos i need to clean my keyboard.

Re: Issues with new website

I think the new page is less informative.
Before I got a quick overview on how my machines were doing and if there was a problem.
I don't really feel I get this with the new look. Also agree on the badges....not easy to see.
New look is fine but again less informative.

Yep! sad

Re: Issues with new website

Edit: The only thing I could really complain about this far, is that the site is way too blindingly white/bright. That could be toned down a bit.

I feel your pain on the brightness. To work with this, I think most browsers have the ability to change background colors. I use Firefox, and found the color settings at: Settings>General>Language and Appearance.

Re: Issues with new website

First i want to show my warm support to KerSamson, one of our big contributors to date, member of my team Decrython.

I am not a geek but i go from time to time to his site and i do understand his deception not to get the infos he uses and cud be hepful for all the team .
The answers he got from caitilarkin are not conforting .
May i am wrong to feel that this redesign (even by IBM) look as a sabotage?
The tools useful for experts contributors must be operated again
We can wait a bit for clearer warmer colourful badges and even a logo.
BUT beware the atractivenes damage for WCG !
That new logo is void of sense. Its just a HOLE ! The dark hole for WCG ! the old has a meaning of linking people.
In due time they must ask the community to propose ideas for new logo and make primaries and a final vote to choose one.
Regards

Re: Issues with new website

Want to fix this and make everyone happy? Bring back the old site (the code must be still around), change the necessary logos and trademark stuff and anything which references IBM to Krembil.

Can't be that hard.

Minor glitch. If you click on a completed result it doesn't show the return time

Re: Issues with new website

Just restarted a machine, after a driver update. Saw these in the BOINC startup log:

24/09/2021 11:05:45 | World Community Grid | Resetting file projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/arp1_00_v02.png: permanent HTTP error
24/09/2021 11:05:50 | World Community Grid | Started download of arp1_00_v02.png
(and the same for a dozen or so other files)

Probably a side-effect of the new website (changed download path?) but thought I'd mention it in case.
