Re: March 20, 2023 Hardware Recovery Update

Link64: ... And all deadlines have been extended to the 9th April.

The uploaded R2R tasks here are still showing their original due dates - 7 March for the MCMs and 4 March for the OPNGs.
Plus 11 Feb 2022 for the 20 OPN1s that my client automatically aborted when I resurrected the machine for the first time since back then laughing

If 9 April is the extended date and there's no action between now and 08:00 Monday (local time), meeting the due date will be a squeeze, since I will be away and my devices will be powered off until the evening of 9 April.
IBM used to give 1-2 days' extra time before declaring tasks too late. I wonder whether Krembil will do this.
----------------
Edit: Mike Gibson has explained, in the 2nd post below here, what BOINC servers do in the case of tasks reporting soon after they've missed their deadline.
Thanks, Mike.

Re: March 20, 2023 Hardware Recovery Update

Ricklb

The usual timings with WCG are that you have until the deadline guaranteed. Once that has passed, they send out new work to replace units that have not been returned completed. You then have until those re-sends get returned to return yours to be counted. Any re-sends that have not reached a checkpoint then get server aborted.

So, they presumably will not re-send your units until at least the 9th and you will have until those have been returned to report yours.

All my finished tasks uploaded OK. Reporting will happen when it happens, not one second earlier. biggrin .

Re: March 20, 2023 Hardware Recovery Update

PLEASE, stop messing around until you see a message on here that gives the all clear...

Ralf sad

how generous (and kind to boot?) of you to offer completely unsolicited and unnecessary advice biggrin i was simply reporting the error that wcg/boinc itself generated regarding transfers it attempts to make on its own in case the disk full error could be of use to admin or might be a sign of things moving forward. as long as we're sharing free advice, feel free to not wink
You're just increasing the noise-to-signal ratio even more...

As is this comment, especially towards a newer user who, to me,was just giving information on here. This is not what I feel this community (and thread) is about. I hope we can all be more relaxed.
Thank you

I didn't even notice the status changed until I saw your post... O.o I just kind of glanced over them as I was checking DENIS & Rosetta which just both refilled their work ques.

That said, they aren't clearing from the tasks list:

Ready to report

Tried Update, but didn't clear.

He's not a new user, he's with the project since 2007!

And with the rather stupid way that WCG is posting news these days, all those "me too" posts that do nothing but state the obvious are just masking the fact that there possibly is a new update from WCG.
And it seems that you all missed that I started my post with a "please".
