I have an adequate supply on my windows machine, but I have yet to see any at all on the Linux machines. I am running one Windows and one Linux machine. I have never had a problem with getting WUs for either machine and have an adequate supply for both and always have had. Is it just me?

I am running one Windows and one Linux machine. I have never had a problem with getting WUs for either machine and have an adequate supply for both and always have had. Maybe not only you, could be some other crunchers that have been hoarding WUs in the past as well...Is it just me? For my part, running all hosts on stock BOINC client settings, no fuzzing around at all, all hosts have gotten an ample supply of WUs again by this morning, after having run dry by yesterday morning the latest. Though the type of WUs is still rather uneven. This morning, it seems finally more SCC WUs are available, though some machines have loaded up since yesterday on MCM1 (which is actually a project I had deselected the other week). Haven't seen any OPN1, neither new (which is to be expected) nor any resends. On the OPNG front, after yesterday getting only NVidia WUs, all GPU capable machines loaded up over night solely on Intel GPU WUs, probably beyond the possible deadlines. Nothing stuck right now on downloads, so that is a good thing for now, but still not a single word from WCG Towers (they might be mourning the second loss of the Leafs against the Panthers) but the moderator games still seem to be on... Is something wrong again? None of our computers have any work units for the last day... went from over a CPU year a day to nothing today.

Is something wrong again? None of our computers have any work units for the last day... went from over a CPU year a day to nothing today. Shortages yesterday for most of us, but it appears to be mostly solved at this point. My devices have claimed about 500 WUs in the past hour. ![]() |

It's seemingly solved on my end. It took a few hours for all my crunchers (all Linux) to get work units, but now they have several hundred in the wait list. It seems like it just takes a bit for the back end to recover.

My Linux machines are now showing some life, mostly MCM very few SCC. Denis@Home will run out in the next 24 hours so if WCG can maintain a steady flow, I would be quite satisfied.

Are you also getting any ARP1s now? At 22:02 UTC I got 13 ARP1-tasks (from generation 136).

In all the time I have crunched on WCG I have had my cache set at 1.5 days and this has provided a steady flow of WUs in good times and bad. I have never had an excessive number of units sitting on my PCs and never will. I was simply reporting matters as they actually are.

I could care less of anyone hoards work units or not - just as long as it's not toilet paper. ;) If anyone wants to hoard or queue a bunch up for a while, it doesn't matter to me. What only matters to me is if I need a workunit when one of my cores needs one, that it's available to keep the core busy. If anyone cache's or hoards, go for it. In my eyes it's more on WCG to have WU's available to everyone no matter what. That's the way that it's always been here in the past as well as the other grids I am involved with, although it seems DENIS@home is a bit on the intermittent side of things. |
