Re: May 2023 workunit update

Also about two dozen ARP1 sitting in PV jail, though one "late on arrival" WU, from a rather slow cruncher, validated right away...

Good to read some people are getting work validated.
I have around 40 results in PV jail. Only one resend went valid as soon it was returned. No tasks in progress for ARP

If I actually got some work, I would happy to crunch it and send it in so it can be validated. As of now all machines except one are dry or will be in the next hour from both MCM and SCC. Did somebody forget to stock the feeders ? When they my computers are dry, they get shut down until such time as more work is available. The family use one will stay up so I can check for work unit availability.
Cheers

Strangely enough, those that seemed to validate right away are WUs that where about 2 days/48h late, so not sure if those just were lucky to fall through the cracks because of some special handling of "late arrivals" (I remember that there was some additional grace period added back in IBM days for rather slow crunchers).

All other WUs seem to be stuck in PV jail for at least 2-3 days now, one of the last couple WUs that I received (with deadline on the 17th) is due to finish in the next couple of hours, but I am almost certain that this won't validate right away either.

PS: @Cyclops I think you really need to stop this stupid childs play of putting all my posts through moderation, not sure what you are trying to achieve that way...

Re: May 2023 workunit update

Yeah, it's dry alright. Nothing coming down the pipe.
Edit, added: But that's OK with me. I do not crunch 24/7, just a couple of hours/day.

Re: May 2023 workunit update

Once again, the silence is deafening. There is no word on Facebook or Twitter on the work unit status. Nor is there any word in the forum.
Please keep us informed.
Cheers

Re: May 2023 workunit update

More than a few times I have thought "Ok WCG has finally got the problems worked out and we can go back to being stable again". When will I learn.

Re: May 2023 workunit update

I strongly recommend users increase their work requested to two day minimums, storing up to an additional day of work. This circumvents some of WCG's weekend outages.

They need to finally FIX these issues, then there are no workarounds needed. sad

Re: May 2023 workunit update

Hello everyone, we are aware of BOINC client communication issues with WCG servers -- we are investigating the cause. There is sufficient pool of WUs available, and it doesn't look like anything is down or wrong -- we will update you as we learn more.

Well, it looks like some things never change.

But hey, there seem to be enough people with rose-colored glasses that think that everything is peachy fine....

There is no "BOINC client communication issues with WCG servers". That communication seems to work as it should, as can be seen by the following from the BOINC log. The problem according to the reply from your server, is that there are no tasks available, despite your statement that "There is sufficient pool of WUs available".

World Community Grid	2023-05-16 22:57:48	Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
World Community Grid 2023-05-16 22:57:48 Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU
