Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

I have sent out recruiting info here in WCG Chat area, and in a couple of email lists... Have already received two "this is spam" replies, good thing I don't care about others' opinions!

One which I found particularly annoying, though, is a member of the Dutch Power Cows calling my thread in the Chat area "intrusive spam" and going on to say that their team "silently" accumulated 10M points and is looking to break the top 50 in points (he did say "good going guys"). I can see why - they have 165 members. They're 86th in points but 59th in membership (and I am proud to say Homebrewers are 187th in membership but 181st in points! biggrin )

There has GOT TO BE 165 brewers out there who want to beat those bovine butts into BRIEFCASES angry angry angry

LET'S GO GET EM!

fb

I'm sure it wasn't me who called your threat intrusive spam, but we are always ready for some friendly competition! cool
Bring it on guys, if you win, we will will serve you guys some nice and cool Dutch Power Cow Milk, but if we win you have to serve us some nice homebrews in return! Deal?! wink wink wink cool Beer is actually still my favorite drink, so apparently I'm a member of the wrong team. blushing
Where are you at in the Team-charts currently?

Keep on crunchin' !

BTW, unfortunately only +/- 30 of the 165 DPC members are working on the project crying

Regards to all...

Welcome to two new team members:

rhpsoregon

and

bhevey

Thanks for joining the Homebrewers team!!! smile

Let us know here if you have any questions.

rhpsoregon,
Looks like your system has not reported any results since you registered. If you are having problems contact me directly if you wish from the address on your mailing list! Also make sure to check out the minimum system requirements on the WCG site, that has been tripping up a few people with older systems recently.

Dave

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Fred,

Welcome back in advance. I will be out myself for about a week. I was just going to say I hadn't heard from Bill, but just checked my e-mail again. He indicated that he was OK with a team leader change and also said he would try to visit this forum this weekend. He thought later in the weekend he might try to get the program reinstalled to get crunching again.

I will be in touch again when I return next weekend.

Dave

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Very good to hear that Bill is still with us.... he kicked this whole team off himself, perhaps 20 or 30 crunchers who would otherwise be wasting the spare power of their PC's.

Now if anybody knows a good way to make a Dell Poweredge 1750 server a bit quieter.... then I could do some more myself. 2 x 3Ghz processors, curently sitting redundant at my place :(

I'm also sure it wasn't you, and while we are getting ready for a nice recruiting push, there are still two or three 'housekeeping" things we need to get done internally before we square up to do battle with the cattle!

We are #166 in points currently at 5.8M points, #201 in runtime with over 20 years of computing time donated, #189 in membership (with 54 registered active members), and if the stats weren't updating, I'd be able to tell you how many currently crunching members there are.

I can't suggest that Homebrewers can compete on numbers, or compete with the currently crunching membership of the Moo club. Our goal now is to recruit members, whether they contribute 100 or 100,000 points in a day.

My personal goal is to recruit members who will also recruit members, who will tell all their brewing buddies over pints of pale, barrels of bitter, or carboys of carapils that we're doing something good over here, and that we want our voice heard within the brewing community. I hope they bring them along for a look and a crunch, and a chat in the team thread.

A little competition is good, and I'll let you know when we're ready!
cheers

Thanks Dave!

Welcome, rhpsoregon and bhevey. I hope you'll find this a good friendly place, and will stay around for a long time. If there is anything else we can help you with (brewing recipe? Supplier?)

Thanks again for stopping in.
cheers

Thanks again Dave! I appreciate you checking back on that subject and following up. Welcome back to you as well!

I still do not want to feel like I'm taking away something of Bill's by assuming the leadership position. If Bill wants to become active again, and wants the position, it's his to keep. Otherwise, sometime next month, I'll submit the request to the WCG.

cheers

Which fan is making the most noise? Is it a rack mount with those blower fans for the processors?

cheers
