Hi all....
Good to see us brewers step up into the top 50 for points produced by the team yesterday! Sure it was only 50th spot, but that is in the top 50 by anyones measure. Team ranking is creeping up, currently at 137, but if we can keep scoring in the top 50, we should be able to reach the top 100. Of course, we need to get more crunchers on board - so lets have a little push and see if can find a few more like-minded individuals to get on side. Cheers Rob |

Hello HomeBrewers. Sorry I've been gone for so long; after my computer crashed, I became so involved with other things that this project took a back seat and I never seemed to have time to get back into this. Anyway, I started updating our page about a month ago but didn't really have time to start posting on these boards -- although I should have at least taken the time to say 'Hello' and thank everyone for all that they've done for WCG and our team.
I just updated our team page this morning to add a link to David Autumns WCG wiki project (bottom of our page here; very cool, David. Thanks. Another change, and in line with what 'dreamboat' just mentioned, is a paragraph (bottom of page, just above the Einstein photo) about our new team goal of making it into the top 100 before our first year anniversary. I've studied this just a bit, and at our current rate and the current rate of other teams, this is going to be a close race ... VERY close. I have added links there (self explanatory) to stat comparison pages so we can watch the teams that bear watching. We slipped one place yesterday because the 'Czech National Team' moved up several places from just behind us; they are a powerful team that generated 137,892 points yesterday. Another strong team that just passed us a few days ago is 'GEG.uOttawa.ca'. The good news is that, although there are other teams gaining on us, they are quite a bit behind and hopefully won't catch us before November 21st. Naturally, some new members will help improve our chances of success, so I'll be trying to recruit from some of the homebrewing forums as soon as I have a chance. Thanks again to all of you; by the way, I did notice that we managed to meet all of our other goals, as far as I could tell; unfortunately I wasn't here to rub it in with some of the other teams, like the 'USMC', 'Team Andrax', and 'Get Er Done'. I was going to let Fred take over as team captain, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without resigning from the team. Anyway, that's a moot point now because I'm back in the saddle again and have updated our team webpage. I plan to spend part of this weekend drinking homebrews and posting new recruiting messages on various brewing boards, etc.Cheers. Bill Velek |

Today our team posted the third highest daily points since we began; WAY TO GO, HomeBrewers! We just passed Taiwan to take 133rd place. We are about to be passed by IBM Massachusetts, which has been averaging very close to 300k points per day, but we should simultaneously pass California to remain at 133rd. It'll probably be a couple of days before we pass anyone again, and ExtremeSystems will pass us in three days (they're now generating over 700k points/day), but within a week we should pass four more teams to put us at 130. There are a couple of other quick moving teams, such as the Teddies, but they're pretty far behind at #315 with 3,346,198 points. We should continue to slowly progress, but making it into the top 100 by 11/21 is going to be a close call -- it's VERY possible, but it will be very close. I've been posting some recruitment messages to help push us over the top, but haven't noticed any new recruits yet.

I can try posting to a couple of local boards to see if we can encourage more new members. Did you ever look at the web page that Fred was setting up a month or two ago under www.worldbrewers.info ? You might be able to combine some of your page and some of Fred's or use the domain name he booked to make it easier to remember. Well, off to stir up the plum mead brewing in the basement! Dave |
