Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Fred's Beef Stroganoff (created 8/1/06)

1.5 lbs Sirloin, thin sliced into bite-sized pieces
1 lg yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1 pkg Baby Portabello mushrooms
1/4c Fresh Parsley, chopped
2/3c flour
1 1/2c Sour cream, thick (I use Daisy) (lite is OK, don't use nonfat)
1c sweet blush wine (White Zinfandel or White Merlot, for example)
1 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
2 tsp Mustard Powder
to taste Salt and pepper

1 lb Egg noodles (or regular noodles)

Prepare noodles per package directions.

Cover the onions in salted flour after chopping.

In a hot pan, saute the onions in olive oil or butter for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Add in small amounts of the paprika and mustard powders. Once browned, add 1/3c wine, mix completely, then remove onions from pan and set aside.

Wait for the pan to reheat, then saute beef and mushrooms together, adding the spices, salt, and pepper early in the cooking process. Stir often. After about 3 minutes, turn down heat to medium, mix in the remaining flour. Add the remaining wine and the parsley (reserve some for garnish if desired), stir in. Adjust salt and pepper as needed.

Once thickened, turn heat to low, and re-add onions. Add sour cream, mixing in completely. Allow to simmer 5 minutes on low, covered.

Serve over pasta.

Best Beer: Brown Ale or Porter

We are indeed closing (quickly) on #150 in points standings... I expect we'll be 148th by tomorrow! smile

On a daily basis, we're putting up point totals on a par with the likes of entire IBM plants, whole countries, and we're blowing away a lot of competition. Not bad, folks, not bad at all! cool That's a lot of effort for a small bunch of people: I commend all of you reading this message for sticking with it! applause

I've been looking ahead to the next 50: it's a slightly steeper road, and there are larger gaps between bunches of teams, but there are only about 1/4 of those teams that even come close in daily points, and none that I polled (which was a random, nonscientific sample) would be pulling away much, if at all. On the average, if we keep this up, or even recruit a couple of new brewers, we'll be up in the top .1% of teams on Team HomeBrewer's anniversary date in November.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

What is good to see is that our output seems to be increasing, just a little more each week with a new member or two, plus existing members optimising their systems, and it is all go!

Would be great to crack the top 100 for teams, something to really aim for.

On a personal note, it looks like in the race to 500,000 points I will not manage to catch up quite quick enough.... but looking good to be ahead come the 1 million mark.

Speaking of, check the About Us page on the worldbrewers web site, at the bottom there is a link. This update optimizes your communications even better.

Still a great effort, and so very very close! cool

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Congratulations to MARKHETH for achieving 500,000 Homebrewers team points!

cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

Thanks, Mark, for helping out.

Mark isn't one of our chatty members, so I hope he knows I appreciate his help in getting the team to 99th place (99th? Is that it? Yup, if we climb higher than 99th, that's just gravy! Or maybe we've recruited so well we'll be aiming for top 10... Anything's possible!)

Cheers

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

I just noticed the forum and wanted to pop in and say hello.

I looked over my graphs, and I need to start firing up my laptop to let it run overnight and continue working. I usually just put it aside when I get home until I take it back to work in the morning.

Well done MARKHETH on reaching a great milestone - 500K is a fantastic achievement applause

Some awesome crunching of late by you Fred - I take it you've added a few more logs on the fire?

At your current rate, getting into the Top 100 won't be too far away - and you can be assured of my support to help push you there in the near future wink

Ady smile
