Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Yep all is well thanks, been checking out the daily points returned, Looks like you guys are turning up the heat a bit lately, yourself very much included! Is that about 30K a day for you now is it!? shock

Top crunching mate! applause applause

blushing 40k per day now, pretty steady. I have eliminated most of the "dropout" machines by setting them all to BOINC as a service and setting the service to restart each time it stops for any reason.

Smooth and easy.. that's the way I like it.

Cheers

Fred, you are "the man". You are by far the main contributor and the very reason we have gotten here so fast. And not only have you contributed so much power, but also the home page that you have designed and donated, plus picking up the slack in my absence. Thank you, sincerely.

Cheers.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

A few days ago I said:
snip ... We're now #127, but should make it to #126 tonight, then #125 Sunday night, and maybe pass SuperBytes Belgium on Tuesday night to become #124. ... snip
The good news is that, by the skin of our teeth, we passed SBB to take #124 last night (Monday). Now things really slow down.

Based upon our teams averages for the past week, it will take us 5 days to beat "-=board´s members for humanity=-" and 7 days to beat "Anandtech".

There are only 64 more stat updates until our anniversary. Based on our past week's performance, we should reach about 12,826,709 total points. There are only three teams between us and #100 that are generating more daily points than we are, but we still have a couple of teams gaining on us from behind, plus we need to pass everyone else between us and #100 before they make it there. This is possible, but would be more certain if we could just recruit another few members.

Cheers.

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Fred and Dave, I think a big brewski to stare at would be awesome. biggrin

Float the brewski, aye! biggrin

Check the home page...www.worldbrewers.info

I didn't modify the team name background color yet on the sub pages. I will have to fight further with the template XML to see if I can center the team name on the brew (I may give up and just move the beer slightly to the right, playing with XML isn't my idea of fun)

I also verified that the "projects/read more..." link page isn't built yet. There is also a link (to power usage by WCG crunching) which hasn't been put in yet, I need to find the target page again. Lastly, there is a way to link to videos, so I will have to investigate how to put those in.

There is also a way to create our own blog, though it costs extra, and I don't think we need it.

If anyone has material (text, images, etc) they'd want displayed on the pages, let me know. At this point I would like to reserve the last page for "members showing off" or "things our members are doing" (we don't have to use names if we don't want to, to maintain privacy, but I think it would be fun).

Cheers

PS way to go Dave and Rob, you guys are really stepping up the crunching!

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Two years of crunching time for me :)

We have to find more computers or members to crack the 100 ranking.... but regardless, we are still going well.

Congrats Rob!

Yea, more computers. I happened to see a room at work yesterday with, by my estimate, 240 blade servers in a group of racks! Older P3's, but oh to have them for 10 or 15 days for BOINC! (Probably would take that long just to get them all running right.)

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Congratulations, Rob.
We have to find more computers or members to crack the 100 ranking.... but regardless, we are still going well.

Actually, our team stands an excellent chance of success even without any new members or more computers -- if we and our competition continue to generate points like we all have for the past week. Taking our average points for the past week, by 11/21 we should pass five teams now in the top 100: they are Champlain College, Italian Grid, IBM Grid Team, Grenouille Team France, and IBM Toronto Software Lab. There are four teams ahead of us but not yet in the top-100 which should remain ahead of us: China Grid, Intel Employees, GEG.uOttawa.ca, and Czech_National_Team. That leaves the #100 spot open for grabs. There are three teams gaining on us from behind -- csg Erfurt, Bankinter, and Teddies -- but they are too far behind us to catch up by 11/21, based on the past week's averages. There are only two other teams between us and #100 which really pose a threat: IBM - BeNeLux and BOINC Synergy; but based on the past week's averages, we should beat them, too. So, my prediction -- based on our average points not dropping much and other teams not boosting their points much -- is that we will be in the #100 spot by our 1st anniversary. Any additional computers we can add to our team will just increase our margin.

Thanks to everyone for all your hard work.

Cheers.

You are welcome, Bill. I'm glad you are back - I know that if our situations were reversed, I would not appreciate being "superceded" by someone else taking over my idea, and I suspect I'm not the only one. It isn't that I would mind being captain - but not that way. It wouldn't be right.

Cheers

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Fred, when I temporarily dropped off the edge of the earth, I was contacted by someone asking if I would mind allowing you to take the helm as Captain; I had no objections then, and I don't have any objections now. When I agreed, I visited our team homepage on WCG and tried to make the change, but it appeared that I would have to resign from the team. Of course, I could have done that -- and can still do that now, if necessary -- but I assume that upon rejoining that I would have a new "joined" date. I guess it's sort of juvenile, but I kind of like being the first member on the team, so if there is any way to make the change and still have me as the oldest member, I'd prefer to do it that way. I had meant to try to look into it further when I had the time, but when I returned and became active again, it didn't seem necessary. However, you deserve to be Captain, and I'll do whatever is necessary to make that change, but I'd like to check first if there is some way for me to keep my original date. I'll check in the chat room to see if any of the administrators know.

Cheers.
