Would that be Westford, Massachusetts or Westford, Vermont ?
I have seen the pictures from the whole New England area. They got hit by a terrible ice storm. Apparently some of them will be out of power for a week. sad
Real winter is finally arriving here. Currently 32F(0C) with snow falling heavily. By tomorrow morning it will be 0 to -5F(-20 C) for the high with 6 to 9 inches(15 to 22cm) of snow. Most of the bad weather will be north and west of where I am. They closed the freeway north of Alexandria, about 70 miles(120km) northwest of here. Once the wind comes up here, I would not be surprised if they closed it from St. Cloud to the west. Now we will see just how accurate the weather men are.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

The temp dropped 15 degrees while I was at church at noon. It was raining when I went in and now it is glare ice on all the roads here in the twin cities.
Now time to stay warm. High temp forecast is 0 F for tomorrow with 20 mile per hour winds bringing wind chill temp down to around -35 F. Ouch! hypnotized
Stay warm. coffee

Hmm.. Still some climate stuff....

Today I meet colleague who's living on very old and great Britain.
He was here on ultima Thule last time five years ago, and he told that there was -23'C ( -9.4'F).

Well, today there is +3'C (+37.4'F)...

He also told that there is lot snow on northern part of Britain, and believe me, there is not absolutely any snow here on southern part of ultima Thule.....

We will have a white Christmas here. High today was -5F(-20C). On the way home from work at 4:30 PM had sunk to -10F(-23C). Low in morning will be -20F(-29C). I hope the car starts. We did not get as much snaw as they said we would. Topped out at 4 inches(10cm), but the wind turned nasty gusting to 30mph(50kph). There is a huge chunk of polar air in Canada plunging south to visit us here. The maps for central Canada indicate the highs for the days are in the -25F range. Evidently all of that warm air in ultima Thule is pushing northward and causing the cold air to fall over to the other side of the earth at the moment biggrin . It could be worse and it has been.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

The car is in the garage. That won't start if left out. Never did like that car.
My pick-up truck is outside and may or may not start in the morning. I may be working from home tomorrow. whistling

Don't know about the reindeer, but the neighbor and his son both got a whitetail deer from my land. One with shotgun and one with bow and arrow. The archery kill was a nice sized doe wish dressed at about 150 lbs(69 kilos). They have both been kind to my freezer. smile

Cheers

Sounds so exciting biggrin

Here in ultima Thule, full of ammos on shot guns are forbidden by law.
And also any lead based pellets (some environmental stuff), so there is not anything else left than shooting smaller birds with shotgun (goose does not come down on hundred yards with molybdenum ammos, believe me, I know).

On another hand, our forest are very dense.
So there is not absolutely any change to get shooting range with classic bow, because you cannot sneak with unloaded longbow.
And yes, law also forbid using crossbows for hunting.

Good side is that we have on another hand, most greatest freedom to walk on individually owned forest and pick any kind of berries and mushrooms.
This is because last great famine on Europe was here on ultima Thule (1866-1868) and it did kill about 8% of population.
So it quite naturally did lead creation of law that allow everybody could go and pick mushrooms where ever they grows.

Edit:
Here is shield of my mothers home county. On middle age using crossbow was like shopping on mall.
I really do not know what "kolkkanuoli" is on English, but basic principle was that there were using same crossbow to put down rabbit and moose.
And those king of blunt arrows was used for smaller animals.
