More "interesting" things about COCONUTS nerd

6 In some parts of the world, trained monkeys are used to harvest the coconut. Training schools for monkeys still exist in southern Thailand. Competions are held each year to find the fastest harvester.

7 Botanically, a coconut is a simple dry fruit known as a drupe.

8 The coconut most likely originated around New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean, but long ago became distributed throughout the Pacific and Indean Oceans.

9 One cup of unsweetened coconut has about 25 grams of fat and 280 calories.

10 Coconut juice or coconut water is the liquid inside a coconut. Coconut milk is produced by steeping coconut in hot water then straining; coconut cream is coconut milk cooked down until it thickens.

Re: Team SEYCHELLES

So your really interested in COCONUT facts?...

Even more "interesting" facts about COCONUTS nerd

11 The botanical name for the coconut palm is Cocos Nucifera from the family Palmae

12 The coconut crab is a large edible land crab related to the hermit crab, and are found in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oeans. They eat coconuts for a living!

13 The coconut may have reached the the Pacific coast of Central or South America before Columbus reached the Caribbean, but was introduced to the Caribbean from Africa by Europeans.

14 Coconut water is often labelled as being high in sodium and so avoided by hypertensives for fear that it will raise their blood pressure. A glass of this drink has only about 60mg of sodium, which is as much as the amount obtainable from a large carrott or an unsalted chicken egg!

15 Coconut water is one of the richest sources of potassium, a mineral believed to help lower blood pressure.

To avoid any more COCONUT facts join us now, even as a guest cruncher. Or are you all studying for an MA in coconuts? sad

Re: Team SEYCHELLES

And some from Harry Belafonte:

Get your coconut water,
Man it's good for your daughter ,
Coco got a lotta iron,
Make you strong like a lion,

Coconut woman says you'll agree
coconut make very nice candy
The thing that's best if you're feelin' glum
Is coconut water with a little rum
It could make you very tipsy
