Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

GeraldRube, the ’Tossin’ and Turnin’ video shows a Ford Edsel.
Was anyone jailed for designing that one?
I also see a Ford Thunderbird 1957 coupe.
Did anyone get a medal for designing this one?

- and it all took place in the era of milkmen. In Rhode Island we actually had Christiansen's Dairy with their funny delivery vans. Christiansen is a very Danish name, and Denmark was and is very much dairy and dairymen.

’In the Still of the Night’ as others you selected also has that great beat – almost Italian, but still uniqely American I think
Oh, and the longing for love never stopped, did it?
And you go Russian – easy to fall for that also, GeraldRube, and hard to stand upright when the power of their music and singing tries to topple you, so why not go to the heart of the matter and let Lenin, Marx, and Engels sing for us?
I wished for Soviet athletes to win olympic disciplines just in order to hear this anthem blushing
This flash mob from the Central Station in Antwerp , Belgium, is irrestistible as an answer to your little girl in Nuremberg playing ’Ode an die Freude’ hijacked from Ludwig van Beethoven to become the ’national anthem’ of some people’s European Union …
Music part over

Childhood Some say in their breezy ways ’It’s never too late to have a happy childhood’. I’m afraid it is for quite a lot having had a difficult one as you did, GeraldRube. At the moment I’m reading a short story collection to be discussed on Monday in our reading club by Tove Ditlevsen. Her works are not translated into English, but should be. They all deal with these little human beings, their wanting to please so they can be loved, their insecurity interpreting the signals of their parents, their despair at being rejected, their fears, and the happiness a morsel of tenderness gives them. It's heartbreaking, and it was so and – I’m afraid still is – in many cases.
You have a vivid memory of the best and the worst of times that were imprinted in a boy's mind, GeraldRube, so I believe that for you it’s late, but I hope other things in life has given and still will give you many good days.
Do you still live in Fort Eustis?

I have a problem. This is supposed to be an ’inflicting’ thread, and I’m lost for things to be inflicting about today, GeraldRube raised eyebrow
In a musical question which I choose to take quite literally you ask me: ’Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?’
Yes smile and the day after tomorrow as well tongue
Furthermore you ask - and this I take literally as well - if I 'Wanna Dance'.
I cannot remember when someone last asked me that (in fact it was me asking branjo to dance when he found my SNURK sign some time ago), so let me answer this way:
Ich tanze mit dir in den Himmel hinein - Es führt kein and'rer Weg zur Seligkeit
which is romantic German for:
I’ll Dance With You into Heaven – No Other Road Leads to Heavenly Bliss
Now please give me some infliction material - I feel like some drenched and very soggy fireworks d oh

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

EDIT: SekeRob**** has since deleted his post asking me not to send the thread off track
and telling me that I need not give a blue answer.
Since, SekeRob**** has painted his Hunting Tool a nice light blue.
O la la! Very pretty - so you do like blue after all SekeRob**** tongue

shock Right now I saw a pretty pink variety applause
It's a virtual lava lamp changing color all the time!!! cool

Regular original post
Just as I needed it the most, a prime infliction situation arose.
I inflicted on SekeRob****'s Earth is Flat smile thread with a thundering faux pas biggrin
- so I remorsefully edited my faux pas post thusly:

< I blabbered again >
For those curious to know how, please follow this link

- and said link leads to unrestricted here idea
My offence - bad, bad mermaid blushing
And of course I did it in the most boring businesssuitlike gray-black/grey-black manner sad

"I vividly recall the article in Newsweek in 1989 dealing with the cold fusion in a bottle.
I Googled for the front page and – vupti! – got not only Newsweek, but Time Magazine and Business Week as well. The best part for those smarter than me may be the highly intelligent and seemingly humorous/humourous blog where these front pages are displayed. I wish my gray/grey matter could handle things like that ….
Am I falling for one more cold fusion in a bottle or what is this?
Ain’t it Italian, SekeRob****?

I may be OT - but what else is new blushing "

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Really, GeraldRube?
I can understand he felt his limits - which I don't know where are -
crossed and took my post as some sort of Off Topic infliction
- albeit genuinely unintended
because the subject 'Cold Fusion' had been mentioned earlier in the thread without repercussions

I would have preferred that SekeRob**** had not deleted his post which came after mine ...
And now you side with him, GeraldRube crying

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

I dare not post this in the The Earth Is Flat thread, but we do have (or had)
some rocket enthusiasts in Denmark as well.
Copenhagen Suborbitals, they call (called) themselves.
Their goal was not to prove that the Earth is flat, but a manned flight.
They had several successful launches and some flops as well.
The main human brain power was Peter Madsen,
nicknamed Rocket Madsen.
He also built submarines. And Mad he he turned out to be.
You may have heard about him murdering a Swedish journalist
on board his submarine ’Nautilus’,
decapitating her, and cutting off her limbs?
He may be an example of the genious person crossing the border into insanity.
EDIT: Kim Wall's one missing arm was found November 29th.
I cannot even begin to think about what those who knew her must feel
- above all her parents.

I live in Mathews County about 35 miles from Williamsburg on the Chesapeake Bay--moved here in 1980. I didn't like busing my girls to a bad neighborhood. Here they all went to same school

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Let me say: Thank You for the Music
I'm pleased that you're on my side, GeraldRube. All of a sudden I felt a bit lonely.

You have been around. The west coast as well tongue
Williamsburg should be worth a visit I read. Is that what you think as well?
How about Chesapeake Bay - or rather its coastline -
would you be at risk if the water level rose by one inch, by one feet, by one yard?
And how is the scenery?
To judge from Google Maps it looks very special with all the nooks and crannies.
Are there rocky beaches? Woodland? Meadows?
What do you like about it yourself in particular?
Had I only known your location in September when I was in Washington, D. C.
- it would just have been a hop, a skip, and a jump - and we could have had coffee coffee coffee
But we had not reentered into conversation at the time.
What a pity
EDIT: Corrected the color scheme

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Yes i was a free spirit in the 60s and early 70s.Colonial Williamsburg is a nice place to visit history but a very busy place .When we moved here there were no stoplights--a Sheriff and two deputies.
The Bay is nice but when we have nor'easters the water can come up to the house. The beaches are sandy like the ocean,it stays green around here in the winter a lot of pine and cedar trees and for the most part the grass stays green.
I like it for the quiet and slow pace here. The houses are far apart and great neighbors.
Yes we could have had a nice time with coffee.
I don't know how to put pictures here maybe i will email you some if you want?? wink

Re: Little Mermaid's "inflicting" thread

Yes, I would like to see some of your pictures please, GeraldRube smile
It sounds as a place which is good for body and soul.
It also sounds as if you ought to support any reasonable measure
that would limit the water licking even closer to your house wink
biggrin No infliction intended - just pure sound advice, GeraldRube
Next time I cross that pond, we'll have our coffee good luck
