Re: Team Mensa smile

One does not have to be a member of Mensa in order to subscribe to the daily CultureQuest®-ion of the Day.
The CultureQuest®-ion of the Day for 5/1/2007 is:

What is the narrowest common denominator of "The Rheingold," "The Valkyrie," "Siegfried," and "Twilight of the Gods" that makes them famous?

@Vester
Thanks for the interesting hyperlinks, Vester. I'll investigate them at the next weekend. smile

I left TSC project to join WCG in August 2005. Nerve-racking server problems and absent forums advisors have been too much for me (and several others). Now I have all crunching power at WCG, a DC project I consider to be the most valuable one.

About the CultureQuest®-ion:
I fear that it's too easy because of the Internet. (For instance, you can google it. shhh )
But perhaps it is thought to be motivating learning by the Internet. thinking

About your profession:
I see that you must had an exciting job as an engineer. applause
Though I am technically interested I don't have the slightest idea about 'augmented fifths'. Could you enlighten us or do you have to kill us after that? confused
(Then I agree to be no more interested in that matter . . . )

@twilyth
Thanks for joining and for posting. smile

Why not showing to be a member of an IQ association - especially in connection with commitment to a humanitarian endeavour.
(To my mind, there is too much unjustified prejudice about people with higher mental ability. But where would our world be without engineers, physicians, judges, architects and, and, and . . . ?)

Hopefully this team will grow a lot!

Re: Team Mensa smile

I hope we can get a lot more closet Mensans. I know that they're lurking out there somewhere. You're right, being bright is nothing to be ashamed of. Some people will always accuse you of being arrogant just by virtue of being who you are. You just don't take such people seriously.

So, to all current and former Mensans, come on home!!!

Our younger son, with a B.S. in Music, explained one instance for me, but I don't fully understand because I never studied music therory. Here's what Wiki says about augmented fifth. One important thing about knowing about some things (as opposed to knowing them well), is that it gives me an appreciation for others and keeps me humble.

LOL, I keep my tattoo covered.
I found a lot of people were intimidated by just knowing of my membership.
But, I am already on a team.

A tatoo . . . hmmm . . . but where should I put it?

The most I've ever done to hype Mensa was a bumper sticker - with just the logo. The idea was, the only people who would notice it would be other members. People have heard of Mensa, but I think the logo is sorta an open secret. Personally I think it's lame, but when they had the competition for it, I couldn't come up with anything better, so I try not to complain.

Thanks for the graphic. It doesn't seem that many people from the team post much - or at least I haven't noticed otherwise. I hope they'll see it and consider putting it in their sig.

I put one together using just the logo, but I have to reduce the size. I think it's close to be obstrusive as it is now.

Team members are welcome to snatch the link to the jpeg in image bucket and use it in their own sigs. I don't know what kind of bandwith limits IB has, but I don't think that's ever going to be an issue in this case - althought I wouldn't mind being surprised.
