Oh dear. $300 ![]() Trying to figure out how much my two computers will cost me. ![]() Well, it is just an estimate on my part. Included are the machines, KVM switch, DSL Modem, routers, printers, 3 1500 APC UPS's, etc ... not to mention all those nasty transformers that step down 110 volts to 12 volts and waste so much energy to heat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We are now at 50,296,661 points for the year leaving 703,339 points or 140,668 per day to 51 million.
----------------------------------------Congratulations to nl59056 on 59 years of runtime, to Lanscader on their persistence in reaching 200,000 points and to Jonathan Figdor on your results milestone. Hopefully, we just have some folks out for the holidays and we'll see more folks crunching in the new year. |

Remember, when I say UT, I mean original UT. It came out in the late 90's and ran on my P2 450 mhz computer. So I can run that game while doing almost anything.
Do they actually use 100% CPU power? Even with all the settings cranked up on mine I can still run Unreal Tournament, use winamp, do word processing and other tasks while WCG is running. Is there some magical way for it to block out other tasks and really use all the CPU power? Also, red or white wine? My roommate and I have developed a recent obsession with port. That's a lot of crunching power. Do they all run WCG exclusively or do you have them doing other things too? They are all with WCG. No multiple projects ... no multiple personalities. ![]() ![]() ![]() Can I see your WCG settings? I have to turn off WCG in order to run Unreal Tournament 3 or it gets choppy. I want to know how you give other programs priority. Although there's really no point in running WCG with UT3 since UT3 takes like 85% on both cores. Of course, less demanding things are fine since I use this computer while WCG 24/7. |

A staggering 65% of problems which a PC encounters (lockups, crashes, blue screens of death, computer is running slow, sluggish PC), whether in business or at home, are not caused by hardware problems, they are not caused by viruses, they are not caused by spyware — they are caused by background tasks belonging largely to legitimate and well-known software you use every day ! I don't need this shareware. ![]() ![]() I don't get lockups, crashes, BSODs, slow running computer, or sluggishness. Thanks though. Blizzie, if UT3 is the only with an issue, would simply right-clicking on the BOINC icon in the system tray and clicking on Snooze be acceptable? That simply suspends computation in BOINC. When you're done with UT3, just uncheck Snooze. If remembering to un-snooze is a problem, you'll have no problem whipping up something that addresses that. ![]() |

Or I just shut it down completely. I don't play for long anyways; less than an hour. |
