You'll probably be OK. I've noticed in other posts that people are dropping out after getting the badge they were shooting for. I dropped out yesterday at a little over 5 years run time for the project. That should (hopefully) help those needing only a few more work units to get a badge.

Got gold... but I'm probably not going to continue crunching for rice, because the limited number of cores available don't give me a chance on other badges...

Can somebody explain to me the practicality of the badges beyond something neat to show off?
A.) Wouldn't it be more practical to award badges based on units of completion rather than units of time? You can *see* the progress of thousands of contributed work units of proteins.. time folding proteins doesn't really mean much. B.) Would it be possible to add a status bar to the projects themselves, such as listing the finite and known-as-of-the-date number of work units left in a single project? This way people will be able to see for certain when they're making progress and getting closer to chewing through a chapter of the projects. |
