RT. I would not jump and buy one right now.. I hear Intel are releasing better i7s Q1 of next year. As far as i'm aware, these current i7s are the higher end enthusiast models. Future models (i.e. ones next year) will be cheaper mainstream versions.. apparently with no QPI and back to dual channel DDR3, but substantially cheaper. However I think Q4 2009 or sometime 2010 ish they're releasing the smaller Westmere 32nm versions with improved QPI which will be better than the current i7s, but are based on the same socket, so if you have the money you could just replace the CPU. Anyway, my first exams in a few hours, so see you's all later ![]() Hey Marc! GOOD LUCK on the exams!! Blizzie, your first ones aren't that far off so best of luck to you too, especially for that first end of semester crush and rush! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Nov 19, 2008 3:48:56 AM] |

Technology moves too fast.. It's so fast it's the only thing faster than a jackrabbit in heat! EDIT: "jackrabbit in heat" - Long time ago, I used that imagery to describe Delilah's pursuit of Samson in a Sunday School class. Now WHY is it I can remember something like that but find myself wondering if I took my meds today????? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by keithhenry at Nov 19, 2008 3:54:00 AM] |

Start of Preaching
----------------------------------------On the issue of education, you folks that are young enough to be going to college need to understand that going to college, learning all that you can, and graduating high in your class is quite likely the most important thing that you will ever do in your life. It fundamentally changes you and profoundly affects your future. You do not currently have the experience to understand its importance; it truely changes almost everything about your future. Work hard, pay attention, learn all you can and you will look back at it for the rest of your life and be so thankful of what you did. End of preaching Good Day to all. |

Edit: DM, you said video card crunching on a C2D only uses a bit of one core right? So I can have 2 cores for WCG going and video card going for PS3Grid? Jonathan...... I'm coming mate. ![]() I a word ... Yep. Use 6.3.21. My cards use 0.90% of the core running the card for Q6600 quad. I don't have an an acceptable vid card in my only C2D so don't have any experience there. That's a big bad card you ordered ... am envious. ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: That version still has some bugs, Vincent. But nothing major or anything you can't get around... it does not handle "Additional work Buffer" well .... so it down loads a lot of work for what's runnning on the cpu's. BOINC sorts it out ... but it is a shock at first. They are working on 6.3.24. You're going to be much better with gpu's than I ... you young punk. ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Dataman at Nov 20, 2008 3:16:11 AM] |

No more QMC for me right now. |
