Hi all,
Its been almost 3 months now that i run the I7; it is doing very well, without OC about 3700 boinc credits per day. Might do some OC in the future, any tips on where to look to make a start ? Cheers, Gerard |

Cheers, Gerard I don't have any experience with overclocking the i7.  It works differently from all the other CPUs. i am at no rush anyway to do the OC ; might have to look at xtremesystems.org to get a clue what to do...
first have to chew on a bunch of beta's that i hunted down yesterday. Should be good enough to get at least bronze badge  cheers, Gerard |

Should be good enough to get at least bronze badge cheers, Gerard If you're into GPU processing, you could get a GPU instead so as not to take risks with your processor. With an 8800GT you can expect about 4k boinc points per day, and with Blizzie's 260 core 216, he racks up probably 8k just from the card. Then you wouldn't have to worry about damaging your processor (since its such an investment). But take my advice with a grain of salt. I have case fans propped up into place in my case on Tic Tac boxes and I busted through the mesh on the side of the case to reduce the fan drone noise. With those mods, I've been able to run my q6600 @ about 3.2 ghz per core stable. Blizzie gave me the OCing bug so now even my GPU is oced. Join the club! |

Wish I could help on the OC of the I7 but can't.
---------------------------------------- I was going to look at OCing my I7 but once I fired it up and started it running 8 tasks at once, it brought up the fan speed to the point that I knew it was running fairly warm already so I just skipped the idea althougher. Up there so close to the North Sea, I suspect you have the weather to allow you to get by with more than I can here in Texas. |

I want an i7. :\ just back from some guitar practice i'll have to check which fans are in this case... are at least 5... Case is an Antec 900 with large top fan, so i just might be able to influence the weather up here  |
