Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

The Status XYZ FAQ in Start Here explains what "detached" means. It is the consequence of an action that causes the client to remove a project whilst there is still work on it and then reattaching and identifying itself to the server as a new client.

When a client is attached to BAM, at least in 6.10.58, the project detach button is actually greyed out and the only control working is them from BAM (or GridRepublic), which leaves me to think it's there and having gone through the motions myself, that was the fix and ever since, even when I attach t6o WCG directly in the client and then attach to BAM, that will leave it alone.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Thank you for the information. I went to your FAQ index and found "Tasks Progress Information Rev. Jul 14, 2009" which points to the forum entry by knreed describing the detached status which says Detached will be returned instead of No Reply.
I used to see No Reply as the status for WUs in PV that had reached the Time Due date and the WU sent to a different user. Now I am seeing a status of User Aborted instead of No Reply. Based on what knreed says about Detached, could the WUs RaymondFO is showing as Detached really be for No Reply?

From knreed's BOINC: Results Status page - What does xyz status mean?
Detached - When a newer client gets dis-associated from this project with tasks still in the cache, will a message be send to the servers to ensure that these tasks get quickly redistributed. With older clients this would not happen and task copies would not get send until the "No Reply" condition occurred.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Sekerob,

I was using 6.2.28 BOINC Windows version for a Windows 7 64 bit OS.

What happened this morning was I saw on the results status page that all the WU's for Asteroid (computer name) became detached, yet when I looked at the BOINC screen for Asteroid, all the WU's were still there in pending status waiting to be crunched. I did hit the update button hoping to recover one (1) WU that was completed.

Until this morning, nothing touched that computer for several days, as I left that computer unattended. Previously the only BOINC setting I altered was the cache setting.

How this disassociation of WU's occurred is unknown to me as I believe the message tab had no indication of this action occurring. All the WU's in question still had approximately 5.75-6 days or less before the deadline.

What setting I should be looking at? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Let's first confirm: Is this client attached to BAM or any other Account Management System?

Not sure the exact events, but when WCG servers get signal that the grid was detached/reattached, however short, the WU's are marked on the server side. Then when the client connects again to the server, the word comes back and the results are removed from the client.

Just went in the client to do a Synchronize with BOINCStats BAM and nothing happened here.... not like the wheels are falling off.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

The only thing the computer is attached to is my wireless network. I have not attached or registered any of my computers to BAM or any other Account Management System.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Maybe our weather man K. Uplinger can bring us some weather forecast after the nice rain we had in the last weeks?
Will we have sunshine for a while or will there be more Dengue rain? smile

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

It seems to have gone pretty dry here (unless I'm just in a rain shadow). Anyone else still getting WUs?

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

I got 43 WUs today (09/13/2010) when I checked DDDT2 work units that are in progress. This allowed me to see what has been received by all the machines for DKT.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

In the last 4 hours I have received 18 Dengue on this
computer alone (didn't check others). If there was a
hiccup, it appears to be over...

I'm still getting work too. Just spurts and lots of hungry machines I'm guessing.
