Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

This just keeps getting better. We lost power and my APCs are only good for about 10 minutes so I shut everything down before the power ran out. When the power came back on and I rebooted everything 2 machines reported everything in their cache as computation errors. 100+ WUs gone and no more DDDT2 in sight. Oh Well! Enjoy the resends y'all. *face in palm* d oh

About half are signal 11 and the rest are marked as detached. Signal 11 error below.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Just what I thought - signal 11.

Did you turn on your machine first without knowing ur router/modem has not turn on yet or connected?

I think this is a bug with BOINC. I always got signal 11 when DNS/DHCP service is offline. for example, If I turn off the dns/dhcp on the server (in your case its in the router), the wu goes kaboom.

It took a me awhile to figure it out until strike 2. So for strike 3, after a power outage, I make sure that the network is working before turning on the rest of the machines.

I don't know but that makes sense. My router and modem are on there own separate APC. I didn't look to see if I had sync because they can run for hours after a power failure. I'll check next time if that happens again. Thanks for the heads up. Would the same bug have caused some of them to just detach?

That would be another issue. I think it has some thing to do with rpc count whc your computer and the server disagrees - thus the server thinks its another computer so it aborts.

Got a bunch of 01 and 02s. All seem to be running O.K. Times are all over the board, though.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Because the estimated resource fpops sent with the 'pe'-tasks was way off, I got too much work.
Asking for 4 days work to achieve my ruby badge, I got 1 machine with 8 days of work, 1 with 9 days work and 1 with 10 days work.
Original deadline 7 days; ~6 days from now.

I'll abort today every now and then a task not able to reach the deadline, spreading some rain drops among the crunchers.
I have even too much work for my ruby badge, so tomorrow or the day after I'll abort some more not needed for my tentative goal.
With the 2.8 days deadline the resends get, they will still return within the original deadline.
