Al,
It looks like something strange happened a little after 18:00 today. I had two WUs give me the error "WU download error: couldn't get input files:". They were both on the same machine. The first WU was ts05_ a449_ pca000_ 0--. The three wingmen got the same error too, the third resend stopped in state "other". The file quoted is ts05_a_g45_a441_to_a450_typeC_a449.prm.gzb and the error_code is 200. The second was ts05_ a449_ pca004_ 1-- but this time I appear to be the only one with an error; same file and same error. I'm guessing that the first might have been a genuine error at the start of a new batch, and the second might be because BOINC just assumed that the file was still unavailable. 'Course I could be wrong! Either way, I thought you might want to know. Mike |

I had one as well, as did my wingmen.

Add me and my wingmen to the list. 2 couldn't get input files (same file) out of 23 requests for work.

I switched my project to DDDT2 only and added a day to my cache. I did get 2 TS05s fairly sooneven though I got the no work available message 3 times. I will remove the additional day for the cache and leave the project list as is to see if the rain is heavy enough for a continuous flow of work.

It looks like the WUs I lost because of Thursday's power failure are ok. Of the resends I checked they were either valid or PV waiting for the wingman. Crunch on-------> I did take the time to swap my hard drives on the machine that had the same trouble as you. It did not help. If you figure anything out, please let me know for mine continues to ERROR DDT2 and CEP2 and nothing else. Edit 1: I am reading up on several posts of people having this problem dating back to 2006. There is a lot to read, but as of 2008, there isn't much in the way of solutions. I will continue to research it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Dec 19, 2010 3:46:05 PM] |

Crunch on-------> I did take the time to swap my hard drives on the machine that had the same trouble as you. It did not help. If you figure anything out, please let me know for mine continues to ERROR DDT2 and CEP2 and nothing else. I feel your pain. I've had no more DDDT2 errors since the power failure fiasco. After I shut down the 2 problem crunchers I switched them from USB drives to regular HDDs and they have been error free so far. I have no idea why those 2 had issues cuz I have 4 other crunchers running DDDT2 on USB drives and they have been problem free. I wish I had an answer for you. There are several things I can suggest. Try allocating more HDD space and more swap space on the problem machine. You can also try raising the time interval that BOINC writes to the drive from the default 60 seconds to something higher of your choice. Try running memtest on the memory just to be sure there are no issues there. My best guess would be that the errors are read/write issues to the HDD and/or something with the memory. I had big read/write problems running CEP2 on USB drives. No problems after I switched them to HDDs and upped the write time from 60 to 120 seconds. If it's any consolation my office computer, which is XP pro 32 bit, won't run DDDT2 or CEP2 either and believe me I've tried every suggestion I gave to you. If your error cruncher is used for other things then you may be stuck. If it's a dedicated cruncher as a last resort you can try a wipe and reinstall.

Seippel,
----------------------------------------I'm still crunching a ts01 (due date 12/21) WU. Assuming I'm one of the last, are we at the end of this batch of WUs? (Edit:) Correction, I have 2 ts01 WUs, one looks like it just downloaded this morning (12/19) resend? ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Steve Dodd at Dec 19, 2010 6:08:06 PM] |

Not only is the project intermittent, but the WU release seems to be so at time. Haven't had a new WU for 90 minutes so the rain may be over
