X-Files,
The file you uploaded was corrupt so the system couldn't read it. This happened around the time of the file unmount issue listed in the known issues, so I am manually granting you credit for it. Kevin |

Thanks Kevin!

Hi Sek - As far I know there were no points allocated despite there being a large number of hours associated with the various WU's - similarly, I didn't think that once detached the WU could ever be recovered to Inconclusive, PV or V - I assumed it would be a total loss......
----------------------------------------I'm not sure how (or where) to dig in to find the respective TXT files you mention, but looking at the log files, all the units were run and completed to 99.xxxxx% so the whole episode leaves me puzzled (and slightly peeved that almost a calender days processing (5 days computer time) has gone down the drain.....) ![]() |

The errors listed above are no longer in the database. Can someone post a current example for us? thanks, Kevin Not very encouraging. I don't care particularly about losing out on points. I do care a little about losing CPU hours. I am however really bothered that my WU has fallen off the grid before anyone cared to look into it. ![]() |

Hmm i seem to be getting a lot of them on occassions still computation error.
I noticed i can force an error by suspending tasks last incident occurred when i suspended all my CCW packets and started a CEP2 this seemed to confuse the packet for CCW being shut down and it spat the dummy computation error. But usually it will just happen randomly unatended i'll check on the machine and say have 5 or 10 out of a weeks worth of packets. So far seen it happen on linux moreso don't think win has managed it yet from memory so those bug tracking atm hope that helps. The mac is copping it less i noticed. |

Wish I/CA's/Techs could reproduce this, but for that we need full disclosure of setup (OS/Hardware etc) and the BOINC settings in effect and detail steps to get the CEP2 task ahead of the queue to process. Add to that some additional logging flags so we've got something to look at from the message log.
----------------------------------------CEP2 being mentioned, the first random thought is that LAIM (Leave Application in Memory - when suspended) is strongly recommended to be on. Second is, the order of suspending, in your case somewhere in the queue a CEP2 task I presume you want to start. Practical steps: 1. First suspend all "Ready to Start" tasks, except the targeted CEP2 task. 2. Suspend the running C4CW task, so the CEP2 task can start, one at a time. This order prevents any "Ready to Start" tasks to load even for milliseconds during bulk suspending which still is sequential. That could be a critical breakpoint, maybe AV software getting nervous on top.

Hmm i seem to be getting a lot of them on occassions still computation error. I noticed i can force an error by suspending tasks last incident occurred when i suspended all my CCW packets and started a CEP2 this seemed to confuse the packet for CCW being shut down and it spat the dummy computation error. This has happened to me as well when I suspended CCW tasks to get a CEP2 task to start. Hardware is: MB = MSI 890GXM-G65 Proc = AMD PII 1055t Mem = 4GB Corsair 1600 OS = Ubuntu 10.10 (I'll try to pull the message log stuff when I get back to the house) ... This might be where things went wrong for me, as I was unaware of the sequential nature of bulk suspend. What I did was highlight all "Ready to start" CCW tasks + one "Running" CCW task (leaving only a "Ready to start" CEP2 task un-highlighted), then hit the "Suspend" button. All CCW tasks errored out - even the ones that hadn't started yet. I'll try your suspend procedure next and see how it goes... Regards |

I also got another four(?):
----------------------------------------c4cw_target02_045068310 c4cw_target02_045076739 c4cw_target02_045152487 c4cw_target02_045152267 I can post all four error logs if somebody needs it... Killed this time also completely other programms like transmission.

Don't know. Have any of those that did so before been converted to inconclusive and later to valid? Saw one report of that sequence. A Scheduling-server doesn't allow the same task to be reported twice, and "detached" tasks is treated as already-reported tasks. Only if the state is "in progress" or "no reply" will the scheduling-server accept the report and update it's state in the database. It's been this way since v5.5, so if WCG haven't removed this code (don't see any good reasons why), "detached" tasks will always fail. ![]() "I make so many mistakes.
