I'm testing to see if I can recreate the error described by some users by running a c4cw work unit, suspending it to start a cep2 work unit, then resuming the c4cw work unit. For those that are experiencing this error, is this something you can recreate 100% of the time? Seippel For me yes. I experienced it today again when I disconnected my laptop from the mains (I set BOINC not to run when the laptop is on batteries). When I reconnected it to the mains all c4cw units that were running immediately exited with the same error message. I observe the same behaviour if I suspend and resume a c4cw unit in Boinc. My setup: acer laptop, core i3 M350, 4GB memory running Linux Mint 10 (similar to Ubuntu 10.10), kernel 2.6.35-22 with Boinc 6.10.58. |

Seippel,
----------------------------------------One report was of suspending multiple tasks in one action to include a running task, so as to jump start e.g. some beta or dengue down the line. When one does that, all the not yet started tasks are briefly loaded sequentially which is when they ended in error, either immediately or when it is their turn on resume. Think with LAIM on, the chance of depleting free RAM could add to the problem. Properly, the steps to take is to first suspend the "Ready to Start" tasks and then suspend 1 or more running tasks to get the "urgent" work to run ahead of the FIFO queue. edit: oh and the internet disconnection issue crashing tasks also has reared it's ugly head again, but only experienced this testing with Milkyway 6.10.58 and 6.12.xx alpha.

Another 'me too' answer. Whenever I suspend task for this project they won't re-start and get the same error message as in the original post. If that helps, I use Boinc manager 6.10.58 on Linux Mint 10 64 Bit. LOL, so many "me 2"s here that this could be an AOL fourm! ![]() I am running Boinc 6.10.58 on Ubuntu 10.10, and this is exactly what is happening to me. Only managed to successfully return 2 CCW units so far...... B |

The only machine of mine that I've upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 and BOINC 6.10.58 is an EEE PC that crunches only rarely.
----------------------------------------I did run a few C4CW WUs on it right after the upgrade just to see if everything worked ok, and it did. ![]() |

Still getting allot of errors one machine with ubuntu 10.10. 11 pages of them. I am getting valid units to but never had this problem before the update. I'll be changing processors soon so will see if I still get them. Might have to go back to 10.4.

Help. I've just started using Linux. I've downloaded the boinc... shell script to my desktop. According to the instructions, I'm supposed to double click on it. But that brings up an editor. What am I supposed to run this script with? If I right click, I get an 'open with' choice, but how do I run it?

After 5 sec. of computation 5 of 84 C4CW units failed. (Also 3 of 39 HFCC but I will report it in HFCC forum). HCC and CEP2 units unaffected. Running Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 64bit. Machine running in VirtualBox 8 CPUs(HT), Boinc installed from repositories. LAIM on.
All exited with: process exited with code 193 (0xc1, -63). |

What am I supposed to run this script with? If I right click, I get an 'open with' choice, but how do I run it? You must open a terminal session and navigate to the folder where the download is located. Then, type ./boin... (the name of the file) and press enter, it will then run the install script. NOTE: If you don't know, use the Tab-key to auto-complete the filename, saves having to type the whole thing. If you are not comfortable with the terminal etc., you can also install it from the repos depending on which distro you are using. ANOTHER NOTE: You should have posted this in a new thread, sorry mods! ![]() HTH B [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 21, 2010 1:15:55 AM] |
