Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We had a very interesting coffee hour with Prof. Dan Nocera yesterday. He is one of the leaders in the field of “artificial photosynthesis” and recently moved his lab from MIT to Harvard. Artificial photosynthesis, i.e., the photocatalytic production of hydrogen, is one of the other interesting approaches to harvesting solar energy.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Dr Elton Santos from the Kaxiras Group in SEAS came over to chemistry today and we had a great discussion about carbon based materials. It’s always great to get the feedback from people in other communities.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We are currently generating a new molecular candidate library for collaborators as Johns Hopkins University. At the same time we are running a 2nd generation custom library for our friends at Stanford.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We are currently implementing a few expansions and upgrades to our CEPDB feeder and analyzer codes. Nice progress on this front these days!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

So, the Harvard IT upgrade and maintenance operations will be performed between tonight and tomorrow morning. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this won’t percolate down to us. Should you notice any impact on the server availability, please let us know.
Have a great weekend everybody and best wishes from
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We are a bit behind with blogging again – sorry about that. So, after St Paddy’s Day on Sunday we celebrated Evacuation Day yesterday, i.e., the day in 1776, when the British withdrew from Boston. In all honesty, though, it really is just an excuse to deal with the aftermath of all the green beer from the day before biggrin. Aside from this little fun fact about local history, we can report that the Harvard IT work apparently did not impact our operations – crunching on then.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Martin has signed up for the MRS Spring Meeting in San Francisco, and Johannes for the ACS National Fall Meeting in Indianapolis – making good advertisement for CEP all over the place :).

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Some AWESOME news! We passed the mark of 15,000 years of computing time harvested for CEP. Unbelievable job, everybody!!! Please keep up the good work.
