We do have a fort.
----------------------------------------For security reasons we do not speak of it in public. Based on the coordinates it is located in the Orlando - Kissimmee area. It is disguised as a theme park. Cannot provide any additional information. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |

I have had to cut back some on crunching due to my i7 being down.
----------------------------------------My plate is full, but I hope to get some time soon to work on it. With the heat of summer the reduced crunching should help the electric bills. My electric bills have been as high as $550 for one month. Hope everyone is doing well. Everyone here is doing great. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |

Once again the evil, uncaring denizens of Georgiania have seen fit to inflict their foul weather upon the gentle citizens of South Caroliniania.
It seems the barbed wire fence that was put up along the border is not enough to keep this inclemency restricted to those who deserve it. Enough already. Stronger action may be required. We must summon our forces in reserve from the fort to fight this menace. ![]() |

Using the assistance of illegals (experts at overcoming fences) we have developed a way to foil your fence.
----------------------------------------It can only be accomplished because of global warming. Need I mention all of this is proprietary? Our ultimate goal is to send major weather disturbances directly from Alabama to South Carolina, without effecting Georgia. That last part is not quite working. We have our finest minds working on it; a team of homeless people, they are experts at dealing with inclement weather. Threats, veiled threats, and passive aggressive behavior are useless against us. We are used to that kind of treatment! ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |

Are you going to upgrade to Windows 10?.....Me neither.
Are you tired of seeing the Get Windows 10 reminder app in the system tray?...Me too. (Many folks equate this to spam/malware since you didn't ask for it, and can't stop it or remove it). Thanks Microsoft! You could go to Show Hidden Icons ... Customize...and change GWX to "Hide Icon and Notifications". This will hide the GWX icon until you restart, and then it will return. [Control Panel .. Notification Area Icons ]...or... You could remove the patch that installed this spam (KB3035583). There are plenty of how to's on the web. But Windows Update will re-install the patch the next time it runs...or... Go to the task scheduler, and disable it from starting : [Start > schedule > Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Setup > gwx find the entries in the right hand panel (launchtrayprocess and refreshgwxconfigandcontent). right click on each and select disable. This won't remove the gwx.exe spam, but the next time you restart gwx.ex won't run and the Icon will be gone. ![]() |

No, i plan on going to Windows 9.
----------------------------------------I'm waiting for a W9 release announcement, but not a word yet. I like your method of spam control. My way to stop the nagging was to remove the power supply. Haven't seen any spam since then. I'll give your method a try, just hope I can figure out where all of those PSU wires go. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |

Hi all,
We switched ISPs, so I just stopped in to change my email address. I just know if I don't do it now, I'll forget later when I resume crunching. I won't be doing the free upgrade either. There's no such thing as a free lunch. Enter "Windows 10" +"opt out" into a search engine of your choice and just see what pops up. (I think I'll post this also in the W10 thread.) Couldn't leave without something to groan at: California is suffering from a terrible drought. But scientists have come up with a plan to convert toilet water into drinking water by a rigorous three-step purification process. That's all it takes to convert sewage into the water that I then drink? I wish they hadn't even told me how many steps they use. Just lie to us, okay? Tell me the toilet water is filtered 3,000 times. - James Corden ~~~ |

I'm happy with W7 also.
----------------------------------------Everything seems to work, systems are stable, what's to gain with a new OS? Does this W10 giveaway fall into the warning "beware of strangers bearing gifts?" grumpy put a good procedure on here that gets rid of the W10 nags. Thanks grumpy! I cut back a bit on crunching because my electric bills are in the $500 a month range. Another reason is distractions, lots of them. Hope to get through this soon. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors and be a large fish in a small pond ![]() |
