I usually open a window in my data processing center (spare bedroom over the garage),
but not this morning. Started out at 21F , now it's bright and sunny and 41. Where's the hot chocolate? |

![]() - there you go, grumpy ![]() Not chocolate, but handmixed and cooked cocoa, for which I compensate by adding handwhipped cream ![]() |

Are we headed into another Maunder Minimum due to lack of sunspot activity?
----------------------------------------aka mini ice age http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/14/ice_age/ Heard a rumor that the canals in Venice Italy were frozen over putting the gondoliers out of work. Any truth to it? ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |

I am having a problem with allocating CEP2 work units.
----------------------------------------When I change my device profile to custom unlimited I only get CEP2 on all PCs. If I set the amount to 2 then I only get 2 on all PCs, regardless of the number of cores/threads. It looks like the solution is to create individual device profiles for each PC. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |

The device profiles are limited to four and the names are fixed.
----------------------------------------Default, Home, Work, and School. Works for me. Using custom settings with different profiles there is some control of CEP2 work units on PCs with different architectures. Because CEP2 uses a lot of disk space it too can be controlled to some degree. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |

You might also want to limit "Maximum Upload Rate" to something less than 1/2 of your maximum upload speed, otherwise a CEP upload will CRUSH your upload and download rates, at least it does on my 768Kb upload DSL connection

Just ran the AT&T speed test (U-verse fiber)
----------------------------------------Download speed is 17.64 Mbps Upload speed is 1.42 Mbps I was running CEP2 100% on 4 PCs for a number of days. Do not recall having a problem with a browser during CEP2 upload or download. Maybe I am not perceptive enough to know I had a problem. It wouldn't be the first time. DSL is asymmetric and favors downloads at the expense of uploads. Just a small piece of that 768 Kbps is available for upload. What does your line test? ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |
