Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

I still have a few hours left of work so I'm ok right now, but I was just wondering how long the server needs me to wait.

Give it a few minutes and let it work it out on its own, don't manually update it. The next time you look at it, you will probably have a new WU.

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

My machines are all running out, or have run out, of work and can't upload results.

That's not a big problem. However, are you able to download new work without errors?

Some crunchers view running out of work as a big problem! A few failing uploads may not be, but once you have twice as many failing uploads as cores, your downloads are blocked.

Ohh, I'm sorry. I didn't know downoalds get blocked for failing uploads.

That's ok, I don't think it's mentioned in the Support FAQs.

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

Does that only apply to WCG or all projects? If WCG triggers that rule, will my fallback projects stop receiving tasks?

It is per project, so since WCG is having the upload problems it will only affect WCG.

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

Well, hopefully, as more and more cruncher's get a shot at getting their files uploaded, more and more WU's will be able to be offloaded from the backend, thus freeing space for new work to be release.

As to whether the WCG techs will then put the project into a reduced priority - so as to get a higher weighting on FAAH/FAVH & CEP2 WU's into the system, only time will tell...

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

I don't normally follow most of the technical threads here, so I want to make sure I understand the nature of this problem. What we're basically talking about then is a shortage of drive space at WCG? If that's accurate, does that seem strange to anyone else?
