Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

We will be discussing the slow news as a technical team. Of course there is the "how can we improve this?" question that will be worked on. In the mean time, I have been attempting to keep everyone informed as well as I can through the forums.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Thanks to Uplinger and the rest of the techs who really got this problem fixed. I hope it has been totally resolved.

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

For several hours now, the uploads issue seems back to normal.

Fewer MCM1 workunits on my computers than usual, but otherwise I don't see any difference from before this problem started.

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

Hi!

I don't know whether everyone else is sorted about the 'file upload' issue, but my system has reverted to this! On Saturday, both my desktop PC and Android Note2 had upload problems. The PC sorted itself out quickly, but the phone now has 2 files waiting for upload and 22 for download (and because it can't get any more WUs, it's only using 2 cores of the 4). These are all FightAIDS@Home-Vina files.

Is this somehow specific to my device? Is there anyway anything I can do to resolve it?

Thanks.

Steve

Hi Steve,

The filesystem has plenty of space on it right now, so I do not believe that is the issue. Especially since you are having issues uploading and downloading. Can you go into the Event Log on your BOINC manager and paste some of it here in the forums? (About the last 100-200 lines should do the trick). This will help us in figuring out what messages you are seeing.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: Error reported by file upload server: No space left on server

I'd like to chime in regarding the comments about the use of News section and delay in letting the wider community know of the space issues we came across last week.

I'll admit we didn't respond in News quickly enough - as everyone mentioned, while Keith and the technical team were very much hands on addressing the problem and responding in the forums, our News communication process proved to be too slow. Our new communication capabilities work really well for planned news items but as we saw last week, are too slow to react in emergency circumstances. As Keith mentioned, we had a team discussion last week about what changes to make to our communications policy (this is a process issue and not a technical one) to allow us to be more responsive in News in such emergency cases. This is a learning process for us, so we appreciate everyone's feedback and for keeping us honest!
