...I still think the Known Issues thread was by far the quickest and best way. If anything was wrong it was the first place I checked!

@ jhindo
----------------------------------------That nicely sums up the point made in my original post. Very rarely is criticism of the tech team justified and certainly not in the case of their response to last weeks problem. The issue last week, and on many previous occasions, is communication. Initially what the problem is and that the tech team is aware. Later that the problem is resolved with a brief explanation of it's nature and it's resolution. The new Communications features (and possibly Twitter) provide the tools to address this matter. What is now needed is a protocol on how and when they are used to notify a problem. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Apr 14, 2014 5:20:54 PM] |

.....and possibly twitter NO NO NO NEVER. I refuse to join these so called social media sites, full of trolls and other vile creatures. Info on any problems should be immediately visible to the ones who care the most, in other words the ones who use the forums ![]() |

Hi Uplinger
Thanks for the reply! The problem seems at present to be only the Android, not PC. As a distinct non-expert, can you tell me how I send you the logs from my phone to you (I guess they're different from the Event Logs on the PC - yes)? And is what you want the "Client Messages" or the "GUI Messages"? Sorry to be pathetic, but I'm only an uneducated user of the software! Steve |

If you want to give messages via the Twitter or Facebook account that is fine but neither matter to me. Personally I check the forums decently well but I think the broadest way (in addition to the wonderful frequent updates that came to the forum, thanks for those!) is to give messages to the software client. "Our servers will have scheduled maintance..." "you just eaned a gold/silver/bronze/tin..." "our upload capabilities are limited but we know the problem and are working on it." If people seeing the software closely enough to know that uploads are not going through, they will notice the "Notices (1)" tab.

Thanks everyone the point is that with the communication features we released earlier this year , it gives members the ability to receive our news wherever they want (whether via email, in their software client, etc) - but as jonnieb-uk commented, that only works if we actually publish a News article, which in this case didn't happen quickly enough. Lesson learned (the hard way

Hi Uplinger Thanks for the reply! The problem seems at present to be only the Android, not PC. Steve Howdy Steve, It appears you know where to get the messages by your comment on "client Messages" or "GUI Messages". What we are looking for here are the "Client Messages". You can get those to us by clicking on the mail icon in the top right corner of the screen. This will copy the messages into your default email client you use on your device. You can email your log to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and add in the subject line "ATTN: Uplinger" That way it'll make its way to me. If for some reason you do not have email set up on your android device, then you can click on the icon to the right of the email button. It looks like two pieces of paper, this is the copy button. Then you can come into the forums using your android device and paste these into the forum using your browser on your android device. Let me know if this helps. Thanks, -Uplinger |
