----------------------------------------Monster queue? Doubtful. I can’t get anywhere near 1 per core. It's because there were a few larger crunchers who were quick to figure out the minute and second the batches are released for distribution, the same ways as it happened with HSTB and set up scheduled updates. It's Trump's world. Got 4 validated with a return time of runtime plus/minus 1 hour, and still they sat in PV jail another 36 hours. It's not helping science at all as the returned result is base of the next step, so it sitting there 3 days means 181 generations will at least take 1.5 years to complete. Suppose the 7 day standard deadline sort of signals it OK with Delft University and that other IBM company that will own the data. I'm confused what this sentence has to do with the rest of your post. Is DJT somehow to blame for people not getting ARP1 work units? If so, now I have seen it all. ![]()

I no longer run ARP until WCG fixes the checkpoint bugs. Hopefully there's a few more available.

----------------------------------------2. The first 2 WUs should be sent out at the same time and there should be no such thing as PV jail. It's just plain stupid to send out one WU, await its return, and then send it out again for validation. If it were up to me I'd send out two and if both had not returned in 24 hours then send out another. The first two to return valid get the points and the others get a server abort. I haven't seen this behavior at all. Since ARP1 is Quorum/Replication 2, both the _0 and _1 copies are sent at the same time.

1. I have no idea what time WUs are generated & don't care. I no longer run ARP until WCG fixes the checkpoint bugs. Hopefully there's a few more available. 2. Like some cheese with that whine? Thankfully things don't run here based on your criteria.

We should keep in mind that 1) this is a volunteer hobby, and 2) units aren't scarce or have few checkpoints because WCG and the scientists want to tick people off. It's just how some projects are, due to either the structure of the project, or technological limitations, or personnel shortages. HSTB wants to produce more work, but they are having trouble finding more researchers to help them process the results data. With ARP, the checkpoints are set at 8 because that's apparently the only way the software works. In a perfect world, everything would be quick and plentiful and exactly how we want it, but our world isn't perfect and that's not necessarily WCG or the researchers' fault.
----------------------------------------So, Aurum, maybe take a breath and be happy that we have a chance to contribute at all. I'm sure everyone appreciates your great contributions to the site. I know I'm amazed by how much power you're contributing to the grid. But that doesn't mean that you get special treatment. If you're worried about your biblepay/gridcoin gains, then you might want to focus on one of the other projects. ![]() ![]() |
