I see your problem. Do the cache settings not work such as 0.1 & 0.1 days?
My 2 machines only have 4 & 8 threads. Mike |

As these 3 new ultra laggards are a long way away from the rest, might it be possible to hive them off into a separate project - say ARP2? That way you could set much tighter deadlines for them and not for the other extremes. Mike |

Mini update as at 12:00 GMT (UTC).
The leaders of the normal & accelerated units have moved on 1 generation to 134 & 124. There is 1 residual accelerated unit still in generation 119 and the leading extreme has only reached 118. There are 122 units within the extreme definition but only 115 listed. The other 7 are delayed accelerated units or units which have not moved since being restarted. They will now have a deadline of 2.75 days on the results page but only 1.75 days in BOINC Manager. The 3 new ultras are now in generations 001, 002 & 003. They will need to advance 5 generations every week to make the calculated completion date. I will monitor that each Sunday. Mike |

I think somebody beat me to this report, but I have:
ARP1_0034098_001_1 Pending Validation sent 2022-02-07 04:03:58 UTC due 2022-02-09 22:03:58 UTC returned 2022-02-07 18:41:32 UTC CPU time 11.76 / 11.84 credit 596.9 / 0 I'd also like to register another vote for "just send somebody these units out-of-band". I can't guarantee 100% uptime because the universe just doesn't work that way, but would be comfortable with a 140 day turnaround time for all 183 generations. This would provide an average runtime of 14 hours for the work unit, and 4 to create the next generation. If they could run straight through without that 4 hour pause between generations, 110 days should be viable. Somebody with a recent CPU should be able to do even better. |

It takes about 15 minutes for the new generation to be created. The units then join the queue.to be distributed, which should be a lot less than 4 hours as sometimes there are none waiting to go. As Kevin has said, WCG have to work with procedures set by BOINC, so can't do whatever they want. Mike |

I expect issues getting ARP WUs when the special machines are on hoovering up all the WUs, but our daily returns are 16 to 17k right now. there should be plenty of WUs.
----------------------------------------It is saying No Tasks Available for me right now, and I just wanted to post in case it is a warning sign of an issue. finally got one after 16 minutes. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Feb 8, 2022 6:37:29 AM] |

There are only 35,609 units all told, so 71,218 allowing for duplicates and 71,341 currently allowing for the extreme triplets.
----------------------------------------That is not a large number to be spread among all the threads that participants have available. If you then deduct all those spares being held which is an unknown quantity it gets very tight. I have said this before many times that if everyone minimsed their queues, there would be enough in circulation for download to be immediate. The shorter the queues held, the more reliable their machines will be considered. There is no need to hold more than 1 spare. However, there is a problem controlling queue sizes for anyone with more than 64 threads on a machine available to ARP. The project limits need to be expanded.
