Re: Work Available

Thank you, Mark.

34248 is one of a series: 34244, 34245, 34246, 34248, 34249 & 34251 identified so far.

The 32/64 bit is beyond me but not too important. I believe 32 bit is the slower.

What is more relevant to speed is the time step. 24 second is much slower than 36.
Most should be 36 second now.

Re: Work Available

Mike, Mark;

Re: 32-bit versus 64-bit:

You can use BOINC Manager to find the name of the executable via the Properties of a task. On Linux the 32-bit application has i686 in its name whilst the 64-bit version has x86_64; there will be some similar distinguishing feature in Windows executable file names...

The only other way of finding out entails discovering the plan class of the specific work unit -- I know of no way of doing that for tasks that have already completed, so once it's gone, it's gone!...

Note that 32-bit runs could be causing the client difficulties with task downloading and scheduling (as I don't think the time estimates change and the client can't compensate for the 32-vs-64-bit nature of the application...)

Cheers - Al.

[Edit - added reference to task downloading...]

Re: Work Available

Al,

Thank you very much for this explanation. I don't think I have ever previously used the Properties tab for tasks in Boinc Manager.

In case anyone reading this is interested in what the Windows executable file names are, the 32-bit application has windows_intelx86 in the name, and the 64-bit version has windows_x86_64.

Cheers,
Mark
