Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Hi DanNorthDE,

The HPF2 project has been temporarily put on hold. You should terminate the WU in progress on your computer.

To terminate an HPF2 unit running under the UD client, right click at the bottom of the screen and select Task Manager. Then select wcg_hpf2_rosetta. Then click on End Task.

If you are not signed up to receive work from other WCG projects such as FAAH and HDC then you will not receive a new work unit at this time.
this has to be one of the clearest and most helpful posts by dagorath that i have ever seen smile

of course dan did a pretty good job in identifying his problem unit too.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

i know that hpf2 is not sending out new workunits, but will it accept returned units? some of us have queues of 3 to 5 units with deadlines that haven't been met yet. will the server still take them, or is it shut down completely?

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Vavega, sending of new WU's is suspended, the receiving remains uninterrupted and usually stays up to several weeks after close of distributing the last WU's for a project. Even yesterday 27 HPF1 came back, more than 4 weeks after close....it would cause all kind of odd problems on a grander scale if the blunt ax was used.

I still have a HPF2 unit that has not started yet, with a report deadline of the 27th. Are they giving some out again? The unit is za117_00615_3
Should I kill this unit or let it run?

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Hello brinktastee,
Let it run, but be merciless if it appears to be giving trouble. Most of the HPF2 units seem to complete successfully.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Question: Will the bad wu cancel itself out eventualy or the only way to cancel is to manualy do it? Reason for that question is that I have number of host that are located in places I don't have immidiate access to and if manual cancel is the only way to go those wu might be stuck for a long time. Anyone know the answer?

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Hello Toly,
Eventually the client will terminate the application. I don't know for sure how long that will take with current settings. Perhaps as long as 2 weeks. You can always check your computers from My Grid - Device Manager - Device Statistics. This lets you scan down your list of computers and see which have returned results in the last few days and which have not.

Remote control is one of the advantages that Boincview offers in BOINC.

Re: A few unusual HPF2 work units

Usually? This is the first project we have completed. I anticipate the project will be shut down entirely once a) all work units are validated and b) the latest deadline has passed. (a) has already happened, so there can only be about 2 week remaining on (b).

Well, for those that came from Grid.org and been crunching longer it is...... if your comment was directed at my post Didactylos......must be another case of unsynched forum servers, as there are at least 4 posts in between ;>)

It was, Sekerob - but the only unsynched thing is me. I wrote the post yesterday, but failed to hit submit before I went to bed.
