Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Last night I saw some of my systems on the Wi-Fi had not reported results for a while. In checking, two of the four systems on the range extender had the connection hung. Both systems are 24 thread systems and had 24 results ready to upload, but could not. Closing the connection and then re-activating it re-established the connection. I wish I could find the cause for these connection malfunctions. They do not occur very often, but since I do not closely monitor those machines, but only look at the results once a day, it is a bit frustrating to lose a bunch of time due to a hung connection. They operate flawlessly for weeks at a time and suddenly problems. If it was all four machines at the same time, I would consider the Wi-Fi to be a bit flaky, but it is never all of the machines or even the same ones. Maybe I should just reboot all of them about once a month or so just to clean up any hidden problems and give each of them a fresh start.
It is going to be hot today, in the upper 90's F(mid30'sC) with a dew point in the upper 60'sF. Very sticky. Keep hoping for rain, but none in sight for the moment.
Cheers

If it starts to happen more often, I will consider finding a newer version of the existing OS or will try another Linux distribution. So fa it is a fairly rare occurrence thankfully.
Cooler today, but now we have lots of smoke from the Canadian wildfires. kind of smells like fall when more people have outside fires.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Mine is periodically. Not enough to change OS yet. When it happens once a week, will move on.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I had to put a soaker hose on my tomatoes this morning. I let it run for 20 minutes on low pressure. Too much longer and I would run my well dry. I saw a deer got in there again. I will be raising my fences today and tomorrow. He/she ate the tops off the potatoes and tomatoes. Praying for rain along with half the country.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We are supposed to get rain in the Seattle area later this week, after an entire July with no measurable rain, unusual for us.

Amazing how deer and bears can like the same foods we do, at around the same time.

Supposed to get some rain within the next week. Let’s hope it comes true.

Hope springs eternal. Here it is the 11th and the rain almost got here. Managed to get .3 inches(about 8 mm). Some of the weeds are still growing, but not the grass. Still managing to keep the garden green. Even the dandelions, which have a pretty substantial tap root are curling up and wilting.Still hoping to get some substantial rain soon, but the forecast for the next week in warm and sunny.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

My Haswell computer has dies. It wont boot. Ive tried everything except buying new parts. Ive made the decision to start new. My contribution will be just a trickle as my 2-core embedded is the only cruncher at the moment. I think I will wait to see what the Intel 12th gen Alder lake will bring.

that is a always a bit of a bummer when a good machine needs to put out to pasture. Any contribution you make is appreciated. Good luck on whatever your new machine might be.
