Re: Badges... Who's got badges

martin64,

No good speculation. The techs would give a 30 day notice if it really were the case... and with the "if there is no work...", a device will always be kept busy at WCG.

rembertw,

llhung, PI for NRW/RICE made a post on April 9 to say it's done. There were no validations yesterday for this project.

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

Sekerob,

I know the RICE project, also known as the Nutricious Rice for the World project is done. I was basically replying to the post of Eagle Scout who asked how to get a badge "here", and who is member of WCG since today April 12th.

Maybe I should have been more explicit in my reply. My goal was to get one of the newest members of WCG and on the forum on the fast track for a first badge. smile Obviously, this is not possible "here" in RICE as you point out, but another project should be selected. Any single one, except for intermittent and except for Dengue Drugs are the "fast track" at this moment. Also: best select only 1 project to start with, again with the "fast track" to the first badge in mind.

I will leave it to others to make study which project to favour now taking PV and return speeds into account. wink

Sekerob,

I guess this would only be true if the project was about to *finish*. The HPF2 project, however, may *temporarily* run out of work if the researchers cannot deliver the next couple of WUs by end of this month - see the HPF2 forum for details.

So if someone would want to have the first badge quickly, it might end up in a dissapointment to have 13 days of HPF2 done, just when the project runs out of WUs for some period.

Regards,
Martin

The scientists can send them to me and my duo will do them single core ;>)

I'm not sure at all how you've equated the N and M to finish by end of month. There's seriously zero buzz on anything running dry anytime soon. More over, HPF2 is whizzing through piles of work units and getting above average share, so Uplinger would get alerted on back-log short fall and throttle the supply rather than let it continue to rip... mostly to serve the exclusive project crunchers [think he never came back on the estimate]. Monday is always a strange day with the validation catch up, but 100-120 thousand is the range it will be falling in today.

edit: darn, this is the NRW forum talking about NRW badge and here we are discussing the HPF2 outlook. We need a badge forum :P

Re: Badges... Who's got badges

The announcement that this project has been completed was made a few days ago. Everyone should have gotten their merit badges for this event by now. It's time to take down the tents and move over to one of the other events and try for more badges. dancing (time to mark the project as completed too)

Congratulations to all badge earners, no matter what level achieved. applause In the almost 2 years since this project started we've contributed over 25,761 years (25761:138:02:06:28 to be exact) of CPU time to this project! In that 2 years alot has happened here at WCG. Five projects have started and three have ended. When this thread was started, a single badge was awarded after 15 days of processing time. That badge was later changed to the bronze level of the bronze-silver-gold system; later expanded to the current 6 level system.

See ya at the other "events". cowboy

Cheers coffee
