The Japanese are too polite about what nature is dealing them, but this snippet indicates it does not much differ from extraordinary hot weather in other parts of the world:
Saitama's Kumagaya sees 39.8 C as heatwave covers Japan National Jun. 24, 2011 - 05:00PM JST ( 36 ) TOKYO — Temperatures soared across the Japanese archipelago Friday, with the mercury reaching 39.8 C in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, a record high for June, due to hot and humid wind flowing from the south, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The scorching heat observed in Kumagaya at 2:20 p.m. exceeded Japan’s previous record for June of 38.3 C logged on June 27, 1991, in Shizuoka city, Shizuoka Prefecture. © 2011 Kyodo News. ENSO/SOI (The Southern [Pacific] Oscillation Index is completely neutral) with underlying tendency of another La Nina, so is speculated by some. Would not bode well for Western Australia either. --//-- |
