Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

More weather, a pretty picture from the North Pole webcam that has drifted since placement in April to about 89.1 North. Melt water on the ice and in the back open water where the ice floats started to drift apart.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Now we're talking

RealFeel® 34°C
Winds ENE 19 km/h
Relative Humidity 65%
Dew Point 22°C
Barometric Pressure 1013 mb
Pressure Tendency Steady
Visibility 16 km
Sunrise 5:32 AM
Sunset 8:42 PM

Appropriate to the temperature we prepared a cous-cous dish with extra curry... to nicely sweat it out. :D

Forecast for coming days... same same. We do enjoy the current series of evening thunderstorms... not allot of wind, no pounding rains. At least the last 7 days we had 5 like that, some lasting 3-4 hours. Not once did lights even flicker for a microsecond... not long enough to let the Wifi router loose connection.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Seriously mesmerizing, water vapor around the globe as recorded by satellites revolving around the planet and compiled by Rutgers University... there are some constant black holes

http://synoptic.envsci.rutgers.edu/site/sat/s...=../imgs/wv_nhem_anim.gif

(watch it, it's big)

Yesterday we hit 101F (38C), and though a shower was predicted for today, if at all it will have to be the evening hours when the wind flips 180 degrees. We have that semi constant during the spring-summer period. For the moment, same as yesterday and outlook through Wednesday... same same:

RealFeel® 36°C
Winds NE 15 km/h
Relative Humidity 63%
Dew Point 23°C
Barometric Pressure 1013 mb
Pressure Tendency Unavailable
Visibility 16 km
Sunrise 5:35 AM
Sunset 8:41 PM

Humidity is high relative to the rather blue sky and it feels not exactly armpit fresh.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Miserably hot here in Iowa today. Coming off of a storm early this morning that caused more than its share of damage...

Weather Radar Destroyed

Also, this one's interesting; we always see pictures of storm damage in towns or cities, but there's storm damage to crops as well.

Aerial Photos: Storm Cuts Path In Crops

Currently:
86°F
Feels Like: 93°
Past 24-hr Precip: 0.50 in (est.)
Wind: From NNW at 10mph
Humidity: 68%
Dew Point: 74°
Pressure: 29.94 in (steady)

And of course, there's this to go with it:

Heat Advisory:

Issued at: 3:43 PM CDT 7/11/11, expires at: 7:00 PM CDT 7/11/11
heat advisory remains in effect until 7 pm cdt this evening
Temperature, highs will reach the lower to mid 90s with dewpoints in the lower to mid 70s this afternoon. The combination of the heat and humidity will produce heat index values in the 100 to 110 degree range this afternoon into the early evening.
Impacts, hot and humid weather will impact those with health problems vulnerable to heat stress and people who are out in the heat for periods of time.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Re: WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER

Don't know the details, but triple digits here today.

Correction: Because of cloud cover, it only got to 99.
