Re: New projects to come?

At the moment New Phases get new badges. Similar with HPF and HPF2. This does not mean something might change in the future, but this is the plan at the moment.

Edit: Forgot about HCMD and HCMD2 as well :)

And the new badges will have new image/picture/icon please biggrin rose. That will greatly encourage us badges hunter.

With or without the phase number on the badge?

Re: New projects to come?

I think that the phase number is only needed on similar badges. Like HPF phase 2, it is not nessessary to have a number on it. Currently, there is only one project with identical badges, it is still ok. When a project has begun phase 3, 4, 5, ... looking at so many similar badges might be boring.

Re: New projects to come?

World Community Grid have studiously avoided the question of limiting the number of badges. Already, some members have 15 or more. What will happen when they have 20? 30? 100? Forum posts will be a mile long!

Look at Sekerob's post above. A single line reply, but it takes up over 400 pixels of vertical space!

Re: New projects to come?

I think there needs to be another colour of badge for people that have done 5 years work, and perhaps one for 10 years.
Some people (not me) have about 12 Sapphire badges. Obviously they have had access to many computers for some time. It is important to keep these people interested! I am sure they would like that little extra recognition for their contributions, and I would like to know there is another goal even if it is unachievable for me.

Re: New projects to come?

plz see post by bbover3 confirming that more are coming next year (many a discussion gone before on this what the steps will be 4-8 or 5-10 or 10-25). Official Print it Yourself Certificates has my greater pref on this matter. Mailing by snail would be costly.

... so crunch on :D

PS: As for the previous "studiously avoided" space eating comment, WCG is not obliged to discus anything as to what their development path is. On this, comes time, comes solution. I'm a 'frequent' poster and it does not bother me, yet. Some space management in the margin allowing continuation for the next few years on hand. An option to not show badges or sigs or images or avatars something to think about.... for that the suggestions and feedback forum.

Re: New projects to come?

I vaguely remember a "frequent" posters appreciation thread in the chat room... I believe those members were referred to as "Megamouth" wink

The solution would be to display the badges above or below the posting in rows of e.g. 20 badges instead of showing four badges in a row in the left sidebar.
With this method you would need the same vertical space for 60 badges (3x20) as we need today for 12 badges (3x4).
