Project Badges:
2 new members of the 6 digit club !!!

Congratulations to Coingames and SAKU1303, great crunching
Pause a while and smell the rose 's before battling on to the 1/4 Mil
58 dedicated crunchers in the 6 digit club today. Team get behind Alain Bryden he needs your support to make that last hurdle.

5 days on the trot now we've seen the other side of 250K. It took the fledgling MOT 37 days to amass the points total that together we posted just yesterday 257,727, nearly 3 points per second or the equivalent of an Athlon 1168830+ or a 1.16Thz P4. We made 29,476 over the Million in the last 4 days shock and we are now clearly addicts of that No2 for points per day spot.

We're right in the 25XK groove.

Keep those fans blowing and CPU's glowing for rbonneau's team at the ISB.
Now to face the M25 sad
Keep 'm crunching
Dave

Only 987 more points to go -- come on, we know you can do it!!!!! Of course, Alain Bryden was a contributing member of the WCG for a while before he joined us and really has about 138K in points to show for it. He is just shy of 100K since joining MOT.

general statistics

The general statistics pages are pretty interesting! I checked statistics by region and looked at the USA and Germany. From the registered members and the "points generated yesterday" you get some picture about retired/inactive users (I consider users with no points yesterday as "not active"):

USA -- registered: 8497, "active": 3217, "not active":5280
GER -- registered: 1418, "active": 458, "not active": 960

If I extrapolate, I guess from the 70,000 registered users worldwide only roughly more than 1/3 are active...

I was happy to see that my all-time high (since my WCG start only 10 days ago) of generated points per day was yesterday with 3808 points which set me to position 6 (yes, six!!) in Germany. In the USA this yesterday result would have been position 64 only :-) That's only points generated yesterday -- of course my low total of some 20,000 points only made me position 679 (in Germany, that is) and rank 30,000 something worldwide only (of accumulated points). So I still have a lot of inactive users in front of me -- will look again in a few weeks.

The 2 most productive users yesterday were nl59056 (48,678 points) and CompuDude (36,080) -- both in our team!!! Place 3 (second in the USA after US-champion CompuDude) was mkmeyers (34,772 points, only a few less than CompuDude). Who ist that guy, who makes an effort to poach him??? We should check out the forum if he is coddled in his team the same way we coddle our members.

Best regards, Stefan.

Re: general statistics

Stefan --
mkmeyers runs a lab at IBM's Rochester facility and the computers are all IBM's. He is a member of the IBM Rochester team although we would dearly love to have him with us. I have never seen him post in the forums and I don't think that his team has ever set up a team thread.

I see, he won't change teams. I guess many of the other crunchers won't either -- they can't take their numbers with them and would have to dig their way up in the new team's stats from zero... Although it wouldn't take too long. Maybe many of them are also founders of an own team?

I hope more people find their way to "our" (I already feel like a part of the team, see?) team page as it is convincing. Well, it convinced me in only a few minutes...

Best regards to the team, will visit the crowded "Kieler Woche" today. Will gain 4 pounds this evening while trying all the nice food form all over the world (traditionally one large market place is covered with small food stalls by dozens of foreign countries)...

Best, Stefan.

crying crying Horrors crying crying

Went to check on my antique pentium II and as I entered the room I heard an ominous whir followed by a load click - whir and loud click - whir and loud click. The hard drive had crashed. crying 300 Points a day gone! crying

This was a 1.5 GB hard drive from an old 486 I had been using to run WCG continously on this machine. I hope this is an isolated event since my main machine is set up the same way sad
