Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

There is no fixed date at this stage, at least none that has been released. There will, apparently, be an overlap period while the GPU BETA runs before a definite finish date for the current HCC phase is set. The two phases MIGHT even run in parallel for a short time in production. Either way we will know soon enough. In the mean time, take the opportunity to clean any dust out of your GPU's cooling arrangement or even look into new GPU hardware if you so wish. There are multiple threads about the topic across the forum so the easiest way to find things is to use the search function at the top right hand corner of the forum page. Use the advanced search options to narrow things down to suit what you're looking for.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

So, when does the project end and when do we have its 2nd part with gpu?

There is no 2nd part to HCC1... there is, let's call it HCC1 feed A and HCC1 feed B which will run parallel to the end and funnel into 1 project stat. nerd

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Although I said I would run 100% HCC until the end of HCC1, I think I will open my systems up to GFAM once I get to eight years for HCC; I am now at 7 years 233 days and I have 151 in PV.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Sekerob... OK, so can I assume that HCC1 feed A will be GPU based and HCC1 Feed B will be CPU based (or something like that)? If so, in theory, then the remaining time for the current HCC project will be reset to a new "Days Tasks left" ?

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the future of this project.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Hi,

bumping the thread as I would like to gather some info for my teammates from BOINC@Poland.

As I can understand from this topic, the new tasks are being generated and the estimation provided by the main projects comparison chart is meaningless.

As it has been explained somewhere, the 31 days (and probably 99% done) figures are artificial limits shown where there is no official info, that the subproject is ending and the present batch of WUs is drying up. Please correct me if I am wrong here.
Judging from the topic about GPU work units and a comment about seperate feeds for CPU and GPU WUs, I assume HCC is not going to its end in the nearest future.

Would it be possible to update the stats / provide some info where we are and what are further plans and project's time horizon. I'm asking as there are some people who are e.g. hunting for their badges and they would like to know how much time they have.

Farther news on GPU would also be appreciated. cool

Best Regards and happy crunching!

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

I agree with the above comment, if possible is there any better estimation of the end date for CPU workunits?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

This is really odd, since I never joined to get badges... But now that I know it's ending, and I'm only 20 days off from getting Sapphire, I'm really really hoping that I can get it.

So I support your assertion that some of us who didn't care about badges... until we suddenly thought we might miss out at least crying would really like to know if you're going to keep feeding... For the next 20 days at least, after that, we can go to next phase devilish (Not that I don't care about others... It's just that I'm the only important one, right?) tongue
