Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

This is really odd, since I never joined to get badges... But now that I know it's ending, and I'm only 20 days off from getting Sapphire, I'm really really hoping that I can get it.

The hunting for badges takes on a life of it's own. cool

The life of badge hunting is just another way we can see how we are doing and if we need to give priority to certain projects. When you say you're 20 days off from getting Sapphire, is that 20 calendar days or 20 days of processing? Right now I average around 10 CPU days for every calendar day. It is easy to check to see how much work you do in a calendar day.

I'm talking real days. I think it might be less than 20 calendar days now that I've added 2 quad core servers (Pulled them out of the company test lab - nobody was using them anyway). Should get it in more like 10 now. *fingers crossed*

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Thank you for the clarification. You should be getting really close to the Sapphire badge by now.

smile Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Having read between Sekerob's lines, I decided to press on from Gold to Ruby and now have under 60 days to go at dual-core, so am inside the 30-day target. 'What to do then?' is the next question.

.. maybe the "answer" is just "crunch more" smile .. I'm sure that there will be suitable projects if You want to crunch even after the HCC is "done" ..

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

I'm needing 134 days total time to hit 1 year for HCC and get my first badge above ruby. I have 4 cores, so am hoping I'll be able to get it. After that, I'm thinking of either some more HFCC (currently gold at 93 days total) or C4CW (currently have NO time in on that one yet at all, so doubt I'd get much beyond silver or gold on that one).

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

4 more calendar days (140ish crunching days) until Sapphire! Better not quit on me now!

Looking forward to HCC part 2 with GPU. I have a pair of cross fired 4850s, and will probably be getting a 7950 after I come back from holidays.

JEklund

It isn't a case of whether to crunch. That will happen. It is a case of what to crunch after my next badge, now due in 24 calendar days. There are plenty of worthy causes in WCG and also in the rest of BOINC.

Bugg

134 days with 4 cores will only take about 35 calendar days and it is over 5 since you posted, so now you should be within the 30 days notice that they are supposed to give, but haven't yet. You should manage it without problem.

Ken.

Congratulations! You should be there now!

Thanks Mike - but it was slightly premature - Air conditioner failed at work, so all test-lab equipment was shut down :( Still another 2 days to go.
