Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Is the total number of tasks remaining known for this project or is it possible more could be added? I'm aware 6,359 new batches were added. Going by March science update

Yes it is possible that more will be added and that has happened - HFCC is one such example. If it happens, there will be an announcement. More likely, nothing will be added and project will reach the end once all work units are processed. Keep in mind that HCC2 has already been mentioned which is something to look forward to.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Good to know that there are still so many days left in the projected remaining amount of days left. I'm going to push for my next target of 32 years for HCC.

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

Sekerob's chart show 108 days

well, by rough calculation we have 210 mln tasks, with magic errors number of 6%. Done 201500000 tasks, and current speed of 300000 tasks/day

((210000000+210000000*0.06)-201500000)/300000= 70 days

happy crunching!

If I divide number of days work remaining 106 by 30 I get a different answer. 106/30=3.53 months. If I was to use 108/30 I get 3.6 months

That's the basis for Sekerob's chart, I thought. Obviously, it's not. He expects far more results to be delivered:

Current status = 201766k tasks completed
Current status = 86,39% finished
This means about 201766k / 0.8639 = 233553k (234 mln) tasks to be completed. That's 11%, not 6% more than 210 mln.

Martin

Re: Talk of Expected Completion date of HCC

One more observation:

I am receiving tasks X09100...

Numbers have some meaning, and I guess this is a WU number of some kind. So 105 million WUs to be crunched, and this might be a WU in the 91 million region. Quick sanity check:

91 mln / 105 mln = 86.7%. That is pretty close to the 86.92% in Sekerob's chart. wink

Regards,
Martin

Some secrets I forget when I go to bed... they're stored in my hacker-proof computer. When opening the [eye]lids and signing in and revisiting the model it goes like: "Yes, still the same". At any rate, on old data we long passed that point where the "last 30 days" announcement was to be expected. Think it will not end before the GPU version is beta tested, at the very least ;D

bbover3 said (in another thread about the start of GPU for HCC):
1. At this time, the plan is to start Beta testing before the end of January, 2012. This may change as conditions arise.

2. Because of the large variety of processors, we will probably have a longer than average Beta test.

So I'm hopeful that we still have a lot of crunching to do ahead of us, at least until Q1-2012. cool
