Sorry, missed this question "if you're using the SSD as cache for the HD, then aren't the pgms actually on the 1TB drive?"
----------------------------------------According to Disk Management the SSD (C:) contains (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition). The 1TB HDD (E:) contains (Primary Partition). Both drives have Boot Partitions and Windows on the Primary Partition. Windows and BOINC run on the SSD. Antivirus, and all downloaded or non Windows programs run on the 1TB HDD. Depending on where you look on the computer the drives show as Raid or non Raid, which is confusing. The chipset is Intel D/W/S Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller and the Host Adapter is iaStor. The BIOS has AHCI Raid and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software is running, which appears to preempt everything Windows 7 pro says. I did the Post Windows Installation change to load the AHCI drivers, which did not seem to make any difference. My goal was to run the Cache along with Win 7 Pro and BOINC on the SSD and I think that is what is happening. The Cache sucks up a lot of space so it is set to System Management to prevent running out of SSD space. The SSD normally has 3-5GB free with it sometimes reading 15-16GB free. Until it gets more problematic I don't want to buy a bigger SSD. In addition, my plan to keep the wife happy backfired. While her desktop PC was down she borrowed my i7 laptop, likes it, and wants to keep it in the kitchen to look up recipes. This is in addition to her new 8-core home built desktop. Its lonely in my office with just 3 PCs so I guess it is time to get her old 4-core running so that I am back to my comfort level of 4 PCs. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |

I Just updated to T-Mobiles 'talk - text - data' plan. (seems like they only have one plan)
For 3 family members it's $50 + $30 + $10 or $90/month. Now i need to upgrade my 8 year old phone(s). I'm torn between the HTC 1 and Samsung Galaxy S4 for mine. ps: no interest in windows phone nor the iphone. Any thoughts? ![]() |

It is just a personal choice as they all have similar features.
----------------------------------------I do not feel qualified to recommend one product over another. When I was looking for a phone I read lots of reviews. I use the LG E970 running a scaled down Linux OS(appropriately named Ice Cream Sandwich). I don't text, listen to music--just check email, eBay, and once in a while do look up something on Google. In fact I seldom talk on it. With 4 CPUs voice is the least of its capabilities. I have 2 land lines and 4 PCs and never go anywhere so why do I have a cell phone? I don't know, guess it is a trend. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |

sooner or later its going to be almost impossible to call or receive a call from other people o your "phone" cause there are too many other things on your "phone"

Grumpy,
I had a thought, but I forgot it.....oh well. That's normal for me. I just got back from Florida...sorry to tell you Grumpy, but Disney was just great. Nah, not really, just joking...we didn't go, way too expensive. If you are really shopping for a phone and like an aluminum body, go with a beer can and some string. No way the NSA can listen in on that arrangement. They also come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors what could be better? Did you hear that Russia is doing away with all of their electronic mail. They are switching over to old manual typewriters for communications? Try to find one of them in the US! But Russia is probably loaded with them, they may even have a postal service that works. They probably still have vacuum tubes also. Good luck with the phone. |

I don't think cell phones have a future.
----------------------------------------They are not backward compatible; they don't play cassettes or 8-Tracks. They lack a DVD burner. There is no app to help find a pay phone (In case you want to talk not text). No mouse--just that flaky touch screen. Nah, I don't see a future. ![]() ![]() Please join the team The survivors ![]() |
